Ouch. Can we just please stay away from things like this for once? I'm crossing my fingers, and "other" things right now.

You know the next cba should have a clause to help teams out when they lose a high level free agent. (Like a first round draft pick if they lost an all star player or a lottery spot of if they lost an all-NBA player).

Great idea. Of course the teams that tank would throw a fit. It would make sucking on purpose kind of redundant. But I can see a on extra competative balance draft pick as being perfect.

Because teams shouldn't be left with no compensation from losing a high level player, the NFL does something similar. It's not a first they get but a 3rd usually which is still a great asset to teams.

At the end of the day it promotes parity imo.

The NFL is soooooooo much better at promoting parity.

I think the NBA should just do away with East/West and have the top 16 teams in the playoffs.

I think they should do away with east/west but keep conferences... just do it like every other major sport. Conferences can be the ABC/NBC

The team with the high level player can pay more to keep that player then other teams.

How do you just give a team a draft pick? You mean the team that signs the player has to give up their draft pick? What if they have already have traded it?

I'd rather just have the best 16 teams in the playoffs, regardless of where they're located.

Baseball does something similar. The picks used to be between the first and second round but now I believe it's late second round picks to teams that lose Type A (first time free agents.) The whole point of parity isn't that you make every thing even it's that you give losing teams more options. That would be harder at the NBA level but with the growing G league and gathering picks.... it opens other doors. Teams would also be able to free up cap space by not being forced to sign a player they can't afford to lose. It would help a team like Portland.

No he wouldn't and it's not close. Lillard is better statistically, a much better leader and plays a more important position in today's NBA.

Hayward is a very good player, but he made the all star team for two reasons: team record, UTA had a much better record than us at the all star break and somebody from UTA had to make it; position - the PG position is insanely deep in the West, SF, not so much (although the recent East - West migration changes that a bit).

If Gordon Hayward shocked the world and took our tax payer MLE, he would be neck-and-neck with C.J. as our current 2nd best player. If that happened, Nurk could eventually pass them both a year or two in this alternate universe version of the future. Even if they were still scoring more, Nurk does so many other things that help the team he could become our second "best" player even if he was 4th on the team in scoring.

    You forgot one word. Defense.

I would say having a top tier wing is more important than a pg, pg's are a dime a dozen right now.

Gallinari to LAC. With a decent pg, they are right back in the playoff mix

Ehhhhhhhh I don't know about that. Dame has never had Gobert backing him up.

Gobert's first season was 2013-2014, and he didn't really start getting minutes until 2014-2015... and surprise surprise, that's EXACTLY when Hayward's defensive numbers improved. Kinda shocking, right?

    Check this shit out -

    Pre-Gobert:

    DRtg -
    113
    109
    110
    111

    DWS-
    0.4
    1.0
    1.2
    1.5

    Post-Gobert:

    DRtg -
    105
    105
    106

    DWS -
    2.9
    3.4
    3.3

Come on man. Gobert or not, hayward is a better defender in the league than Dame.

Obviously gobert helps the drating, but really?

I would trade CJ for an instant for Hayward.

I would be hesitant with Lillard, but it wouldn't shock me if other fans without rose colored glasses picked Hayward over Lillard.
