Trade Vonleh/Davis -- sign Z-Bo with the MLE.

This is about developing Biggie and Collins. Their games are so similar - there probably isn't a better on-court mentor for Caleb than Randolph.

Wonder if the Nets would take Allen Crabbe for Jeremy Lin. Lin's contract expires after this year. He'd be a decent guard in our rotation. He makes 6 mil less per year and has a player option next year. Allen is just a spot up shooter anyway. Pat Connoughton could fill that role.

@BonesJones thinks we should trade Turner for him.

My contention is BRK actually wants Crabbe. I don't think they want ET.

There was more to the deal it was using Vonleh and a future 1st to dump Turner AND get back Lin. I think my offer was ET, Meyers, Aminu, Vonleh, and a 2018 Top 16 Protected 1st for Lin and Booker.

I bet we could dump Allen Crabbe on NO for Omer Asik and a 2nd round pick. Asik would give us a decent defensive presence at backup center. He has 3 years left on his deal at 10 mil per season. So we'd be shedding about 8 mil in salary. If we can dump Ed Davis as well, that would put us under the luxury tax threshold.

Why pay him when we can develop Z-CO? I'd rather dump Crabbe while taking back no salary.

I hope Portland makes a trade soon because these proposals are just getting worse.

Wait... so Lin is worth giving up assets for but Jackson "brings absolutely nothing to an NBA team"?

You said Reggie is a high usage, inefficient chucker but Lins usg% is 22.1 and Jacksons is 24.6 (half the difference between Dame and CJ's usg%) Lins efg% is .484 and Jacksons is .474. Jackson and Lin had the same Ast%, Jackson had a superior OBPM (1.4) to Lin (0.5). Jackson has a 2pa% of .471, Lin has 2pa of .465. Jackson has a net +\- of 0.2 and Lin is 0.0.

Both were given the starting PG duties for a bad team last year and both averaged 14 ppg and 5asts. Yet one literally brings nothing positive to an NBA team and one is worth trading assets for? I don't get that one.

Asik has fallen off a cliff like a base jumper whose chute didn't open. No thanks. He's become so insignificant, I'd forgotten he was still in the league I thought maybe he was playing in Europe somewhere. He should be.

I would too, if a team would take him. But we may only be able to dump half of his salary by taking on another bad contract.

Jackson would be fine if he could play SG, which he can't, and if he'd be fine coming off the bench.

You're taking career stats into account, which is Dumb, as Jackson has declined, while Lin has gotten better. You literally course advanced stats to compare their careers then only used PPG and APG to compare their 2016-17 seasons. Hmmm,I wonder why....? Well, you couldn't compare their seasons from last year because Lin was so much better than Jackson.

    Lin 56.6 TS% / Jackson 51.0 TS%
    Lin 35 AST% / Jackson 30 AST%
    Lin 19 PER / Jackson 15 PER
    Lin 2.5 OBPM / Jackson 0.6 OBPM
    Lin -0.4 DBPM / Jackson -2.0 DBPM
    Lin 2.1 BPM / Jackson -1.4 BPM
    Lin 35% FTr / Jackson 20% FTr

Do I need to find more stats???

He would have to come off the bench, just as Lin would. He was coming off the bench behind Ish Smith at the end of the year so why would we assume he wouldn't be ok coming off the bench behind Damian Lillard?

So in almost every statistical instance it's logical to use the mean except for this specific one? Using one year as your basis in which Jackson had one of his worst years and Lin had arguably had his best is the better route? Is that because it's reasonable or because it's convenient to your argument?

Let's instead use a year in which they had similar roles on similar teams. A lot more likely to resemble what their role would be in Portland.

2013-14 Both came off the bench in backup guard roles with a good playoff team.

    Jackson- Lin-
    15.4 per 14.3 per
    23.1 ast%. 22.3 ast%
    22.6 usg%. 20.4 usg%
    Obpm 0.1. Obpm 0.6
    Dbpm -0.5. Dbpm -1.0
    +\- -0.4. +\- -0.4

Very similar but in no way can I look at any of those numbers and say one is worth trading young pieces for and one brings absolutely nothing positive to an NBA team, as you stated.

Bruh... I'm talking about the players they are now, not who they used to be...

Is Derrick Rose better than CJ McCollum presently?

You're cherry-picking years from the past, before Jacksons decline. He's not a good player anymore, and he proved it last year.. I'm talking about acquiring players for next year, not for the 2014-15 season. I don't understand how you wouldn't be able to grasp how players change and the most recent season is the best predictor for future success.

How will Lin get worse by coming off the bench instead of starting? Because 3 years ago says so? That's ridiculous.

Lol I use career stats, you say that's dumb. So I use stats from a year that he played a similar role to which he would play in Portland, you say I'm cherry picking stats. All the while you literally pick 1 year (his worst year) out of his 6 yr career to base your argument... and you don't see the irony.

I obviously understand player projection based on previous year trends. My argument is that you can't put too much into the trends in which the player is mistakenly put into incorrect roles. Which is most definitely the case for Jackson. And a basis for which our GM uses when making favorable trades.

I honestly don't give a shit if Jackson or Lin play for Portland. I just wanted to point out how silly it is to use a hot take like "Jackson doesn't bring anything positive to an NBA team" and then go and lobby for trading young pieces for a player with similar production like Jeremy Lin.

I'm not cherry-picking, as I'm talking about the present. Is Lillard only a 20ppg Scorer? Is Derrick Rose still an MVP level player? You're talking about years ago, I'm talking about now. Right now, Lin is a better player, would accept a bench role, and can play SG, all of which are factors in why Lin would be a better fit. You're the one who's silly, out here comparing their 13/14 seasons like it matters.

    Bye.

Your examples are irrelevant and distract from the argument which I still don't think you understand, but this isnt going anywhere. Happy 4th!
