We're not the ones that need this deal to happen - HOU and NYK want to send Melo to HOU. If we're gonna help make it happen, then it's gotta be on our terms. If NYK wants any sort of return on Melo they're gonna have to take some shit back too.

If we trade Harkless it makes me wonder if we're making a play for Crowder. Maybe a 4-team trade? Unlikely, but...

    As far as picks go:
Boston would get the right to swap either their 2018 BKN or LAL Picks with NYKs 2018 1st. They only get the LAL pick if it's top 2-5, and BKNs will be top 5 as well. It would mean NYK wouldn't fall out of the top 5 but Boston would further their chances of getting two top 5 picks.
    Boston would also get HOU's 2020 1st.

Houston trades Anderson and a future 1st for Carmelo
Boston gets a future pick and a valuable right to swap next years picks, as well as the cap space they need.
New York gets a valuable young piece in Harkless and a PG that they need in Napier.
Portland swaps Leonard, Harkless, and Napier for Anderson and Crowder without trading a future pick.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
But in your trade, New York is basically not getting a return. From what I've read, when Houston tried to move Anderson's contract, they found no takers. He's not viewed as any kind of asset at his salary.

He's going to love Stotts system...he's a good shooter who makes free throws and can be a quick study...when you need that shot or free throw he'll be better than putting Meyers or Mo out there. I don't think he'll play many minutes.

I think more trades would happen, but they would be independent of this deal. Possibly Crabbe going to BKN, or a deal for Crowder.

Which is why I think we would be getting something more than just Anderson.

Ariza.....yeah, I just can't accept the idea of him being a Blazer after killing Rudy. Just ruined that guy.

What would it take to get New York to give us the right to swap our 1st with theirs next year? Maybe they think that they could push for the playoffs in a weak East and our pick won't be much better with us playing in a stronger West.

I'd only do this trade if New York gave us Unprotected Right to Swap 2018 1sts... I don't think they would do that, however.

This is, like, the second good trade proposal you've made! But I don't think HOU is giving up nearly enough - they should probably be giving up at least one more pick. I don't know who that Taylor guy is, but I'm assuming he's a scrub - so, aside from the one pick you have them giving up, they've just given away a bunch of garbage for the "best" player in the deal.

Ryan Anderson would be lethal playing off Nurk. They both open up each others games. I'll let Paul worry about the money.

Maybe Neil could find a wing defender rather than a tall white guy who can shoot and nothing else.

To get rid of Meyers you have to add value....I like Mo but Swanigan can take his spot

If Meyers goes to New York, they need to make a reality series out of THAT! I would watch. Just fill the soundtrack with Elliott Smith and watch the most depressing show ever construed. Imagine a close in shot of Meyers sitting in traffic in his Jeep, a single tear drop falling down his cheek whilst the "Sad, Walking Away" song from The Incredible Hulk plays forlornly.
    Tv gold.

I'm pretending Crabbe is an asset. Anderson is the garbage.

If we traded Crabbe and Harkless then we would have Turner as a starting SF and have no wings off the bench. We'd need to add a PG/SG and a SG/SF to replace Crabbe and Harkless.

That's why I think that trading Harkless, Leonard, and Napier to New York while taking on Anderson makes sense if we're going after Crowder. Harkless, Leonard, and Napier is around ~$23M. Anderson is only ~$19M. That would allow us to take on Crowder (who replaces Harkless) for free, giving Boston cap space.

In a deal like this, we could potentially get HOU's 2020 1st for taking on Anderson, which we could then package with our 2018 1st to trade for Crowder. Boston would likely jump at that deal, getting 2 future firsts for Crowder, as well as cap space.

We'd essentially replace Leonard's awful contract with a more awful contract of Anderson. At least Anderson can somewhat play though. Getting Crowder would be a talent upgrade for sure.
