Another fact: 3 surgeries on the same knee and I'm sure he hasn't played near a full season in quite some time.

I think he sold high on Mason....who's truly a tweener...he was replaceable but a hard working good teammate...his younger brother is going to be good..the Knicks just waived him I think his name is Marshall?

My guess is the original plan was to have plumlee backup Greg Monroe, but also serve as insurance in case they couldn't land him. We know the rest of the story. He overachieved, and we sold him for a franchise center. But Olshey haters will ignore it. Or better yet, tell you he lucked into it.

Oh dear. Yes, it was a good deal. I think everyone agrees on that.

Doesn't make up for the mistakes though. 1 good move out of 3 doesn't make the criticisms go away.

That's true for all gms. Some gms get canned after one blunder.

Yes!!!! Finally, someone in our division makes a move that makes them worse!

Is the 1-year Felton signing enough to negate the 1-year Paul George rental? Maybe...

And then what would you have done to address the center position, prior to figuring out free agents? Since we still would've had Plumlee.

Would've had to move quickly on Gay/Evans / then either resign Mason or sign a starting C - which isn't exactly cheap. We also lose out on our possible star.

Unless you truly think Olshey was planning on trading our only competent player at center for a benched backup C and first rounder going into the season and I believe he said at his presser he still was hesitant to do it except for the pick..

Otherwise if we know about Nurk and don't worry about RFA offer to Plum this year, yeah, probably could've spent the money a little more wisely building for now rather than later. But acquiring Nurk moved us further along our progression than many believe, imo.

Subtract Crowder and Bradley, add Hayward. Thomas is after a serious injury,Horford is older, almost no big bodies on the team.
    Sounds kinda 'meh' to me.

They said they are keeping Crowder now.

They have added Tatum, Hayward and Morris.

    Lost bradley, johnson and olynyk.

They haven't lost crowder and appear intent on keeping him for the time being.

I would make that trade everytime.

I'm not saying i'm taking Avery Bradley over GH, I just don't think they made the jump that they hoped for.

There's always a flip side to these discussions. People tend to only see the value of a contract as being the value of the player. That is, the objection to Crabbe's and Turner's contracts is that they don't think the quality of their play is worth what they're being paid because their production isn't equal to what some other players earning those salaries are producing. But that's not the total picture because contracts nearly always have value at some point in their life span and in certain situations. Let's say a couple of years from now that All-Star Player X has put his team in the same situation that Paul George just put the Pacers or LaMarcus Aldridge put the the Blazers. Player X's current team is looking for a trade that will net them young players and draft picks for a rebuild. Let's also say Collins or Swanigan are coming along and are desirable as trade assets, but are still on their cheap rookie deals. A deal of one of those guys plus a first round pick is acceptable, but you need a large salary or two to match what All-Star Player X is making. The deals that Crabbe or Turner have will work and they're not a large albatross because they've only got one more year on them. The deal is consummated and the Blazers add All-Star Player X to their roster and proceed to win a title. Yippee! Everyone in Blazerland is ecstatic, including the naysayers who couldn't see any value to those massive albatross deals that Olshey gave away back in 2016. Oh well, when's the parade?

Those facts are great but answer this:

How were we supposed to get Evans instead of Turner?

Evans has ALWAYS been injury prone. Are you saying that didn't factor into his contract?

Evans contract has nothing to do with Turner's....

That was really cruel, Bones, to post that; I hope Neil Olshey isn't reading this!

Aside from the fact that Turner is a better defender and Tyreke is always injured. I'd take Turner 10 times out of 10. This is not to defend Turner's contract though. I still have yet to find a way to defend the price tag, and I'm frankly not going to even attempt to. I just would much prefer Turner on the team over Tyreke.

I think I'd prefer to stick with the potential of the younger players. I do respect the creativity it takes to throw Jodie Meeks into a debate though. Game changer.

What about games played? Tyreke is always injured... He played 40 games last season and 25 the year before. He's averaging 59 games per season.

    No fucking thanks....
