I wonder if Neil not wanting to include Harkless is holding up this trade from happening.

Shooting in the playoffs has been a major issue with Anderson, and his one dimensionality is extra concerning at his salary. The fact that Anderson is such an awful finisher and inside player at 6'10 doesn't give him a pass. I don't want to watch a guy whose literal only skill is hitting threes and can't even do that reliably when it matters the most (even on the most perimeter-centric offense in the league!)

Shooting threes is literally not his only skill. If you're going to shit on a guy, fine, but at least make sure you know what you're talking about.

He can shoot and rebound. That's it. But don't act like he didn't look like shit in the playoffs.

    In The Pringles Man's system...

    We need 2 way players.

Then tell me, what else does he offer? His rebounding has trailed off too, to the point where his TRB% last year was 8.5%. For a PF, that is not good.

Aminu by comparison, who is generally a bit undersized at the 4, managed 14.1% last year.

Chris Paul is really good friends with Ariza. He was part of the reason CP wanted to come to HOU in the first place. Doubt they trade him, but you never know with Morey.

Yeah but it kind of changes with how players are used by their team. I mean we depend on Harkless for rebounding as a starter, and he had the exact same TRB% at 8.5. I get that one is a SF and one is a PF but in today's positionless NBA....... does it really matter?

I don't know if it just Houston system that made Anderson go down on his rebounds due to every other place he average right 8 boards a night or it is him declining as player. Maybe his injuries catching up to him I don't know. But with the wide open game Houston plays and the lack of defense they play I am getting to believe it the system.

I'm getting the sense the Blazers aren't part of the deal when it gets done.

That likely means it is getting done :)

It seems like Mo knows he's going to NY. There's that.

I'm starting to think Mo to NY might have nothing to do with Ryan Anderson after all..if Neil turns Mo into Eric Gordon, I'll be happy

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I'm a little surprised by the sheer Harkless love by some on this forum, but I would also be pretty unhappy if he were dealt with Ryan Anderson as the main piece coming back. Harkless isn't amazing IMO but he's a solid two-way player. A roughly average defender and shooter--until we get better 3&D guys, we need players like Harkless around Lillard and McCollum. What we don't need is another guy who's awful on defense and attached to a terrible contract, like Ryan Anderson. If Portland were dumping their own bad contracts, like Crabbe and/or Turner, that would be one thing--but Leonard isn't a large enough bad deal to be worth taking on Anderson and sending one of our few good contracts and decent two-way players seems counterproductive.

Now if, as some speculate, the Portland net is Ego (Eric Gordon) and Ariza, I'd be pretty satisfied with that. Ariza is a better defensive, but older, version of Harkless and Gordon is a nice bench scorer. But Houston would have to be incredibly dumb to trade two useful players for Anthony--they'd become a worse team. But I guess their Q-rating would go up.

    Eric Gordon hates Neil fwiw.

"You can say one thing and do another, but at the end of the day I don't get into it. With the things that I've been in with GMs, where I had one GM (former Clippers GM Neil Olshey, who now is in Portland) say that you'll never get traded and the next thing you know that ends up happening a few days later."
