So the best case scenario with those guys is they flip them in a trade? With Leonard at least they get a guy that fits the age of their roster and has shown in his career that he can at least be a stretch 5. Those are valuable. Olynyk just got 13-14m or whatever. I'd rather take a chance on Leonard than take on a best case scenario trade piece, especially if I'm rebuilding.

Also we don't necessarily HAVE to dump Leonard on New York. We could easily just offer Davis and Connaughtons contract if we wanted Carmelo bad enough.

Wow, that came out of nowhere. I wonder what this does to the whole Carmelo to HOU scenario.

No--IMO, Burks is a better potential return than Leonard, and Exum is likely a better prospect than Harkless. Johnson as an expiring contract filler is just a bonus.

Yeah, the package Utah could put together is easily more attractive than ours (big 3 exclusive, of course)

Wow, New York puts the trade discussions on pause and Les Alexander puts the team up for sale. That's the ultimate overreaction to thinking Anthony is still a superstar!

But does UTA have any interest in Anthony? And even if they do, is it mutual?

    I'm guessing no to both.

    No.
    I don't think so.
I'd be surprised if it happened.
    I guess it's possible.
    I could see a path.
    Ah, crap...

Yes. Other teams can't publicly talk about acquiring players under contract with another team. It's called tampering.

I'm just a little surprised that we haven't heard, one way or the other, about whether he would open up his list to Portland.

How has there not been a single journalist that got a hold of him to ask if he'd accept a trade to Portland?

Don't know--I was just responding to Scalma's suggestion that IF Utah wanted to deal for him that NY would have to take back more garbage from them than from us. I dispute that notion.

I've already said that there's no way Melo waives his NTC to go to Utah, so it's really a moot point.

I don't think "Melo to Portland" is considered a serious possibility outside this forum, tbh. Even those who are aware that Portland is interested probably put Anthony's likelihood to add Portland to his list of acceptable teams at 0%.

Anybody else hoping this turns into some sort of Nurk and a first round pick all over again?

Even if a reporter did get in contact with him to ask that question, I have a feeling Melo will be advised to pull a Marshawn Lynch.

Depends who the Nurk is, because for everything Melo isn't... What he is, is an upgrade over any forward the Blazers currently have on the roster.
I don't think he's coming to Portland because I don't think a player who believes he is as good as LeBron... Is willing to accept a backseat role to anyone but LeBron.
    So yeah... Who knows though.
I didn't think Portland would get first rounder + Nurk from Denver. I thought DMC wouldn't ever be traded.

Because no one cares about Portlands involvement outside of Portland, and all we have is Jason Quick and those bald fucks.

It was reported nationally that Portland wasn't interested in an Anthony deal unless they were getting Anthony. To most people, that probably read as, "Portland no longer interested in being part of an Anthony deal."
