Because you couldn't possibly compliment this team. It would take away from your attempts to always be the bitter poster.

...no no, Elton Brand was an elite defender and shot blocker thru most of his career (he also only shot 21 total three pointers during his 17 seasons in the NBA)

    From OregonLive:

"In eight games, Swanigan averaged 16.1 points and 10.6 rebounds, recording six double-doubles while joining Blake Griffin, Kevin Love and Marreese Speights as the fourth rookie to average a double-double at summer league."

It's just summer league, but that's pretty good company.

Nice list of comparables in the stats from this article:
In eight games, Swanigan averaged 16.1 points and 10.6 rebounds, recording six double-doubles while joining Blake Griffin, Kevin Love and Marreese Speights as the fourth rookie to average a double-double at summer league.

I can definitely see him somewhere in the continuum between Mo Speights and Griffin. I think he's got some of Griffin's passing ability and ball handling, Love's three point shooting and Mo's scorer mindset.

Honestly, I'd have been perfectly happy drafting Mo Speights at number 26. A solid decade of coming off the bench and logging 16-18PER over 15mpg ain't bad. I think that's the low end of his projections.

Mo didn't show three point range until the last couple of years, though, and has never passed the ball in his life. Kevin Love or Griffin seem wildly optimistic to me, so I can definitely see him somewhere in the middle.

You can focus your offense on Griffin or Love. I'm not sure that'll ever happen with Swanigan. I think it's more likely he becomes Draymond Green with mediocre defense, which is still a pretty good player.

Especially the passing. He made so many passes out of the post that our summer league scrubs whiffed on. If he can deliver those same kind of passes to Nurk, CJ, Dame and Harkless, I don't see how you keep him out of the starting spot.

Very excited to see Swanigan's impact this upcoming season. Won't be surprised if he's already a solid starter by mid way thru his rookie year.

Is Paul Millsap a good comparison? Millsap made himself into an elite defender, but offensively, I see a lot of similarities.

Offensely I think he better than Vonleh. But on the defense side Vonleh has him beat there at this time. But really it is going depend what the roster will look like. If it stays the same we know that Aminu will be the back up 4 so to me Swanigan and Vonleh will be battle at the 4 for starting spot.

I'd like to see Vonleh and Swanigan go at it.

Wasn't going for clever, so that's ok.

You can't have people say it's just summer league when someone struggles on one hand and then praise a summer league performance on the other.

    Yes, you can.

We're not scouts. We're not GM's. We're not responsible to evaluate objectively at all times. We're fans. We're only responsible to see things in the manner which brings us the greatest amount of enjoyment from this diversion from reality. If you derive joy from evaluating players objectively, then more power to you. If others prefer to magnify the successes and minimize the failures for the sake of increasing or prolonging hope for the future, then that's their prerogative. Why must one perspective be more or less valid than the other?
