What makes people think the Military is an equal opportunity employer? Very far from it. The Military uses prejudice regularly and consistently to deny citizens from joining for being too old or too young, too fat or too skinny, too tall or too short. Citizens are denied for having flat feet, or for missing or additional fingers. Poor eyesight will disqualify you, as well as bad teeth. Malnourished? Drug addiction? Bad back? Criminal history? Low IQ? Anxiety? Phobias? Hearing damage? Six arms? Hear voices in your head? Self-identify as a Unicorn? Need a special access ramp for your wheelchair? Can't run the required course in the required time? Can't do the required number of pushups? Not really a "morning person" and refuse to get out of bed before noon? All can be reasons for denial. The Military has one job. War. Anything else is a distraction and a liability. Did someone just scream "That isn't Fair"? War is VERY unfair, there are no exceptions made for being special or challenged or socially wonderful. YOU change yourself to meet Military standards. Not the other way around. I say again: You don't change the Military... you must change yourself. The Military doesn't need to accommodate anyone with special issues. The Military needs to Win Wars. There are thousands already serving and the military hasn't suffered or collapsed. There's no need to experiment, that's been done already. We know the results, which are that it's no big deal.
There's always been women on the front lines. Just not in certain jobs, like infantry. 50% because they don't need to be, and 50% because women are physically incapable of doing the job. Mabus was sure to throw out all minimum standards though. So that women were able to pas the tests.

You have no clue what you're talking about. The Marine Corps was the branch that did the first study. They hand picked the top females in the entire Marine Corps, and put them through the Infantry Officer Schools entry physical test. They all failed on the very first event. Then Mabus said, why does the standard need to be so high?

In 2007, a friend of mine who volunteered and served in the First Gulf War, came out as a trans woman. She was the one who helped me realize in 2015 that the horrible feelings I had going on were gender dysphoria. She is a hard-ass motherfucker who saw some shit. Gender Dysphoria is currently classified as a mental illness (just like homosexuality was), treatable by allowing the sufferer to express their identified gender. The distinction I want to make is that BEING TRANS is not a mental illness. Identifying as a gender different from your biological sex is not a mental illness. The negative feelings of not being able to reconcile your body and identity is the mental illness. There are trans people who are perfectly at home in their body, no matter how it looks. It takes all kinds. Trans people who are shown support for their gender identity, regardless of whether or not they have surgery or hormone treatment, have a suicide rate no worse than the population average. Just because she's identifying as a woman (and let's be honest, this is mostly about trans women) doesn't make her less of a badass, or less able to kill motherfuckers. Supporting her identity will empower her to kill more motherfuckers with confidence. If I were Queen Of The United States, I'd say that anyone can join, but you don't get any medication; in that respect I'm not that different from Sgt Rockhard Beefpile up there. This would include boner pills, so I'd be assassinated instantly, but let's say I'm not. If you're trans and serve, when you are honorably discharged, you get your transition paid for in full as a thank you. And maybe I'd make sure every vet got a full battery of mental health support for five years or something. PTSD is real and shitty as fuck. Of course if I were Queen, we'd have Single Payer healthcare so all this would be moot, but whatever. Trans people today are where gay people were 35-40 years ago as far as social acceptance goes. A couple of years ago, that number was ~30, but bigotry is powerful, and very easy to fall back on. I hope that, for every trans person that's murdered, a trans soldier has killed at least two motherfuckers. Gotta keep the progress going. I'm back. Let me be clear: I think you're trying to pull something clever. I'll say it again: Gender Dysphoria is mental, but it is not the same as being trans. I'm trying to clarify that Gender Dysphoria occurs in trans people, but not all, and to varying degrees. It's as treatable as erectile dysfunction (even moreso because you can't just give a dude a boner by telling them you believe in their boner).
