We shut down our manufacturing facility here in Oregon, and I'm officially out of a job. Sigh... The good news is I have had three different customers and a vendor ask me for my resume... EDIT: Whoops. Meant to put this in OT. Little help, mods?
Don't knock it yet though. Collecting cans is a pretty easy living. Out in nature every day and getting exercise(riding bikes around picking them up), meeting new people (at the Bottle Drop). I'm enjoying it....
Hey man if I could find one of those awesome Keystone Montana rvs for a decent price I'd probably live that lifestyle. Just give me some internet access and I'm good.
This sounds like a Breaking Bad type of situation but instead of making meth you're going to start pimping sheep.
I heard @HCP is fixing up his basement. You already spend a lot of time at his house, so you might as well move in.
Wookee would be an easy house guest to get rid of, just throw a 6 pack of Coors Light on the front lawn and lock the door.
A couple years ago the lab I worked in shut down and I was out too. Sucked, it was the first time in over 25 years I was out of work. I almost got several jobs but something kept going wrong, like funding falling through at one lab and a scientist having a health crisis and having to take a year off the day before I was signing papers. Ended up being a god send. Changed careers. Much happier life now. Good luck, I hope your next step is the best one yet.

Sorry to hear that Mr. Wookie. Sounds like you were well respected in your field. You will be fine. Best of luck going forward.
This is SO true for me too. If I had continued with the corporate life I had been doing, my life span would have been shortened by 20 years. Wookie, go find something that you enjoy doing, and have fun with life!
