I would be fine with patches on jerseys if there were a direct benefit to fans.

Jerseys are expensive, it's hard for many parents to drop $70 on an authentic Blazer jersey.

Blazers and the NBA should offer jerseys w/o the patch for full retail and jerseys w/ the patch for $20 less. The revenue received by teams for putting ads on jerseys should go directly to making "swag" more affordable for fans.

In my opinion "die hard fans" watch every game possible regardless of who's playing. That's ME! I don't give a shit about those patches or commercial breaks. Pays the bills. Aside from that, to each his own. Sure seems like you and Nate have a lot of pent up hate towards basketball......why the hell do you even watch?

Is reading comprehension a thing for you or not?

I don't have hate towards basketball. I love basketball, and that's the only reason why Im a Blazer fan. I hate the way the NBA does things. You're a die-hard NBA fan, I'm a die-hard Blazer fan. Big difference. Most people are die-hard fans of a team, not the league, because the league is bullshit. That's why you don't understand the annoyance. The extra money doesn't pay the bills. They already got enough money for that. It's extra money the don't need but make the fans put up with while ruining the sacredness of the uniform.

My feelings have nothing to do with basketball. I love basketball. My frustration and hatred is for the National Basketball Association as a corporation. I don't like how it has modified the game. I don't like how it has marketed the game. I don't like how it has controlled the game. I used to LOVE watching the NBA. I was a huge Pacers fan back in the 90s. I loved watching the Bulls. I loved watching the Rockets with Hakeem. I loved watching the Magic. There were so many fun teams and so many great rivalries. The current league is a joke compared to the NBA of the late 80s and 90s.

Name on rivalry on the same level as the Pacers/Knicks or the Bulls/Pistons or the Blazers/Jazz where the teams hated each other?

When basketball started out, they never dribbled the ball, only passed it like rugby...the ball didn't bounce well because it didn't have as much air in it and scores were really low....that's how it was designed....it's improved throughout the decades in many ways....I do miss handchecking though and physical play that refs used to let go....that's changed for sure...all in all though, I choose to enjoy basketball as it is. People think the modern era has changed but I think hoops changed under Michael Jordon more than any era........enter the superstar era.....every team needs this 50 pt scoring dude ....before Jordan I think the sport was more team oriented and less star struck

I think there have been a few significant changes, but you're right, one of them was the Jordan era and how he impacted marketing.

Another one is the AAU culture that has created these bonds between the players that has transcended onto the pro level and created these weird clicks of star players. There used to be rivalries between teams/players. So much so that they hated each other. Do we see that anymore? There aren't even really any fights in the league.

The changing of the rules to open up the game and make it harder for defenders to stop someone.

And then there's the bullshit refereeing......
