Well, I did read his history. For some reason, I like to study military history. Sort of ironic that he is the focal point now, being a rather kind man for a General, he loath to take the job as commander of the Confederate Army. A sucker for duty, now taking the brunt of the abuse from the ill informed.

Yep. It's hard to eradicate this stuff; it takes decades.

I thought it was interesting that he used the word "replaced" as it echoes the chant of those racists with tiki torches.

You don't "replace" the mona lisa with a color by numbers painting.

Monuments erected in the Jim Crow era with the intention of intimidating black people are unlikely to be considered irreplaceable artistic wonders by anyone but you when you're busy trolling, though.

There's a museum about Auschwitz, and it still stands. It was built with the intention of the eradication of millions of people based upon their ethnicity and sexual orientation (among other things).

The intention of building these things is irrelevant.

No one's saying you can't have a confederacy museum, Denny. Keep talking and maybe we will take that privilege away from you.

You're certainly free to hold the opinion that we shouldn't consider intentions or context. It may not be a popular or logical opinion, but I would (rhetorically) fight and die in foreign lands for your right to have that opinion.

So the museum has displays that explain how it doesn't matter why Auschwitz was built?

I guess the plaque under Gen. Lee should be changed to read

"This is a guy on a horse. It doesn't matter why it's here."

It's about history, and that we need to remember it for perpetuity. Whether it's a death camp or the Civil War or Jim Crow.

And the museums are convenience stores. And the convenience stores are jails. And the jails are parking garages.

Well, if you're being fair, convenience stores are museums--if it has a picture on the wall or any decorations. Based on Denny's definition (which he got from the Patriot Act).

He's had no trouble destroying art, even when he had a contract that required preserving it.

Line of people in Durham waiting to turn themselves in for toppling the Confederate statue.

Can you just put "Virtue Signaling" as your profile tag, instead of "Habitual Line Stepper"?

Extremists in general... You love to toss around the term virtue signalling, but all I see is people using events to spout off about their views. You do the same shit, using those people to spout off about "virtue signalling". Both you, as well as "virtue signalers", are using your viewpoints in a condescending way to try to demean the other side and act like your better than them.

If you don't see the parallel, it's fine. I just find it rather funny.
