There's probably some easier procedure to fire someone for saying something idiotic than actually killing someone.

    I get sarcasm but damn.

How unaware can a person be about our society?

Well, when the President of the United States can get away with saying stupid and insensitive shit it apparently makes some folks think it's okay......especially if they're wearing a cop uniform.....

First off, I will make this plain as day. I am not defending the Cop.

    I can understand his thinking.

Have some dumb gal that is telling him that she is not going to put her hands down and make a phone call, even though he repeatedly told her to, because of all the youtube videos of cops killing people..

Its like he is trying to use the same logic that she is presenting to convince her to comply.

The shame is that yes, there are bad cops. It is even a larger shame that the media and the left has vilified all police on the actions of a few. Now we see the mind set and behavior developed as a result of that.

Perhaps police forces should be more proactive in getting the bad cops off the force and into jail (when they do criminal things) rather than closing ranks reflexively. Bad cops get the good cops vilified. Bad cops get the good cops killed. As little tolerance for bad cops as there is in the general population, there should be even less for them within police forces.

He can get away with it. He could say worse than what this cop said and still have a job.

I think the cop was dumb but I also can see what he was thinking. This goes to what bothers me most. I don't know if he was a good cop or a bad cop.

We've decided as a society apparently to fire people for words at the first chance we get.

The cop that falsely arrested the nurse is still on the job.

Oh, and it is idiotic beyond words to make this about Trump. Cops have been doing far worse for the entire history of our country.

Funny, I can't understand his thinking at all.

Simply saying it's ok to use your phone would've sufficed.

We could have an entirely different conversation on many points here, but I prefer not to derail the post.

My premise is simple. She presented a biased, arguably ridiculous behavior that he attempted to quell with her own thinking.

The whole thing can be wrapped up in the "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes" motto.

Odd, I believe that he told her that several times. She refused to comply.

Then saying, "I'm gonna wait right here patiently until you make that call" could've worked too....

Sure, and he could have placed a call for her as well, but that is not relevant. Easy to sit back and second guess. It is obvious that he was attempting to use her own beliefs to get her to comply.

Wait what? This makes no sense.

Her belief was that she would be in danger if she reached for her phone so it obviously wasn't her belief it was the COP's belief...

Well, you brought up the point.

And he's paying the price for dispensing "stupid prizes." He probably would have been better off staying professional, rather than making a stupid joke.

But it was NOT her thinking. She was thinking as a WHITE WOMAN that she was in danger of reaching for her phone.

There is nothing to suggest that she thought Blacks were the only ones getting shot. As a matter of fact there is plenty to suggest that was the opposite of what she was thinking.
