“DACA is a very, very difficult subject for me,” Trump said in February. “To me, it’s one of the most difficult subjects I have because you have these incredible kids, in many cases not in all cases. In some of the cases they’re having DACA and they’re gang members and they’re drug dealers too. But you have some absolutely incredible kids, I would say mostly.”

The administration has continued to allow Dreamers to apply for the program and has even renewed their permits — at nearly the rate of the Obama administration — which has angered some of his own supporters.
If the Dreamer program allows for 2 year visas only, then this seems to be a call to get in before the door is closed.

There are 10 states about to sue the feds to shut down the program.

Well shit. That means we lose 70,000 per year (from the ones who work)

If went ahead and just brought in everyone from every country on Earth we'd be the richest country in the history of man.

Then we could gloat about it to China (they'd all be here but we could still rub it in)

Just IMAGINE what the Democrats could do with the welfare we'd give to the other ones. They do say it stimulates the economy so I'm guessing we'd net 5 billion Trillion dollars. Times another Trillion of course.

Trump is legitimately putting the policy in the hands of congress, where it belongs.

Obama may have done a good thing, but it wasn't within the law.

Absolutely the correct thing to do. You cannot have one set of laws on the books and the President enforcing another set.

And what if 300 million people from South America came up here looking for work or welfare, you'd see how foolish your plan is then.

We should just give Mexico the Dakotas to fill up. I bet they would make more money in taxes than they take in welfare.

The more people there are, the more jobs there are - that's an economic fact. We've had 4% unemployment with 340M population and back when we had 280M. The 4% figure is presumed to be the number of people who are between jobs, not long term unemployed.

Undocumented immigrants do not get welfare or social security, even though they do pay taxes (even income taxes).

300M people form South America wouldn't come here, though. People do like the countries they come from, and stay, for the most part.

Say his name: Alonso Guillen, DACA recipient, drowned rescuing others during Harvey floods.

Rather have him in my country than a privileged 71 year old egomaniac who inherited wealth and increased it with racism, graft, and not paying people for their work.

I think he's counting children of undocumented immigrants who were born here.

    http://www.politifact.com/texas/sta...lay-says-most-illegal-immigrants-draw-welfar/

    Welfare benefits

The federal government hasn’t distributed welfare checks to eligible people in poverty for around 20 years; that approach was replaced in the late 1990s by targeted aid programs jointly administered by the federal and state governments that provide assistance with cash, food, housing and health care. That act, the 1996 Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act, also barred unauthorized immigrants from drawing benefits.

Title IV of the act, subheaded "restricting welfare and public benefits for aliens," states that "aliens who are not qualified aliens" are ineligible for "federal public benefits" and for "state and local public benefits." The act defines qualified aliens as people with certain legal documented immigration status, meaning unauthorized immigrants are not eligible.

We confirmed from eligibility rules posted on government websites that unauthorized immigrants aren’t eligible for major aid programs including Medicaid, the joint federal-state health coverage for people in poverty; Supplemental Security Income (SSI), which provides cash assistance to the impoverished elderly or disabled; Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which used to be food stamps; housing assistance from the Department of Housing and Urban Development; and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), which provides grants for state-administered family assistance programs like child care, cash assistance or counseling.

Separately, Broder and Randy Capps of the Migration Policy Institute, a think tank that believes in the benefits of well-managed immigration, each told us federal welfare benefits aren’t available to unauthorized immigrants.

By phone, Jack Martin, author of reports on unauthorized immigrants in Texas for the Federation for American Immigration Reform, which advocates tighter immigration controls, put it this way: "Illegal aliens are not eligible directly for welfare assistance" though, he said, parents living in the country without permission can sign up qualified children for aid.

Not much difference if someone can walk in and have a child and get free money.

Guillen’s family, meanwhile, is left to mourn him. “When we are with God, there are no borders,” his mother told the Chronicle. “Man made borders on this earth.”

    From huffpost^^^^^^^

Wonder if she goes to Heaven if she'd respect any borders God did make?

Feel bad for the guy, he's a hero.

    It's the law.

I would prefer we educate the children, as long as we have public education. Then they won't need welfare as adults.
