Passed away at age 76. Damn slick Yankee paler and organization man. RIP "Stick" you were one stirling example of a Yankee>
...met him in Florida many years ago...got his autograph along with The Mick's, Yogi's, Whitey's, and Charlie Keller's. ...responsible for The Core Four.....RIP "Stick".
May be the last 'great' GM we will see in a decade or 2 to come.... Trashman couldn't carry Gene's jockstrap....he's that weak...!
I must be having another senior moment. I was looking for this and I couldn't find it. I kept asking why somebody has not written anything? DOH!!! Yes, no one in this Yankee organization could claim this man's baseball aptitude nor his ability in assessing talent nor his honesty & sincerity. He always preferred to be in the background, never wanted the headlines. But, any Yankee fan worth his salt knew Stick got it done ...........his way. This man belongs in the sacred monument grounds..... especially as Yankee GM and master scout. Never given full credit in obtaining 'The Core Four'.
YOU are too young for those comical senior moments. The only problem is when I go through them I do not find them funny.
...was Posada a great defensive cathcer?...no, but he had a career OPS+ of 121 and is a borderline HOFer.
