Adding Melo would be no different than San Antonio adding Rudy Gay. Scorers always have value. Guys like Gay and Melo are easy to shit on because they've been part of some bad teams, but this is a team sport and Melo has shown he can adapt to playing a more team oriented style of basketball when surrounded by better talent, so it's a move that intrigues me.

Well I honestly wish melo would come here but it's looking like he's just gonna stay in New York. Free agents just don't wanna play here and melo is practically a free agent in this decision because it's up to him whether he wants to come here or not. We just don't land them. If we could trade for him straight up, I think we would of gotten him. It's shitty.

Rudy Gay has a defensive real plus minus of +1.96. Melo on the other hand has an outstanding drpm of -1.75. LOL so ya, no different.

For comparison, Dame, who is a crappy defender, has a -1.49

And before someone says his offense makes up for it, Rudy Gay ranked 14th last year in SF real plus minus. Melo ranked 29th. You know who ranked ahead of him? Aminu, 16th and Harkless, 20th. While no stat is perfect, the top ranked SF's are Lebron, Kawhi Leonard, Durant, Greek Freak. It means something

A really nice article on Dame and his annual picnic in East Oakland contains this bit about the Carmelo saga:

"Lillard said that he spoke to New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony about the possibility of waiving his no-trade clause to be dealt to Portland, but doesn’t see any trade in sight. Lillard said that Anthony “didn’t seem opposed” to the idea of playing for the Blazers when they spoke.

“I didn’t want to press him,” Lillard said of Anthony. “I ain’t a big fan of doing all the extra recruiting and all that stuff. And I guess they call it tampering or whatever. It’s not against the rules for us to interact with each other. We all peers, we all play in the same league and everybody hints at playing with each other. ‘What you think about this?’ ‘What do you think about that?’ All that matters is whether it got done or did not get done. Or hasn’t got done, and it hasn’t got done. So, it is what it is …

“I’m not giving up on anything. I just think I’ve done what I can do. And camp is a few weeks away. And you have to focus on getting ready with who we are, plan on going in as we are. Whatever changes, the front office will be the ones making that change, with the Knicks and our front office or whatever. But I get my mind focused on what I can control at a certain point.”

Not sure that Melo would necessarily tell Dame straight up: "Yeah, about that man, uhh...nothing personal but I'm not really down for playing with you Trail Cats up there in the Great Wet North, ya know? We're still cool though, right?"

I don't like Nards either but this is untrue.

Ryan Anderson is making 20 million a year for 3 years.
Meyers Leonard is making 10 million a year for 3 years.
Money alone says taking back Ryan Anderson to just get rid of Nards is a bad trade for Portland.

    People complain about cap space.
Your trade gives Portland less flexibility, because not only do you get rid of 3/30 contract. You get rid of an expiring contract in Davis.
This is a trade that NO won't make, nor should anyone ever make. Ryan Anderson is an albatross contract with 3/60 left on his deal.
