Does it make a difference? They don't have any wonder plan. We are all screwed by Insurance companies AND asinine lawyers no matter what happens.

Not if we pass Bernie's Medicare for All.

The insurance companies are the reason WHY there isn't support.

You don't need health insurance. You need healthcare. There's a difference.

Yeah, and Hilliar is going to win the election.

    How'd that prediction work out?

Did I predict that? Not sure I did. I certainly didn't vote for her. If you can quote me on that I'll admit it but I don't remember saying that at all.

It is very hard to comprehend why any Americans who get their healthcare coverage through their employment with a self insured employer would prefer paying higher taxes for single payer health care.
They do not pay for health care coverage now except the cost to the employer which is not taxed, but if they receive it instead, it will be taxed. Replacing that with much higher taxes seems self destructive.

Last time I looked it up, over 60% of the people are covered by a self insured employer. Why would you trade that away?

A reasonable expectation would be to increase taxes on employers (so that the net effect on employers is approximately zero - they pay in taxes what they used to pay for insurance). That money can be used to fund the single payer plan.

Self insured employers do not pay for insurance, they pay for health care costs of their employees. Adding a third party like the Federal government certainly is not going to improve the efficiency of the system nor improve access to healthcare for the employees.

Currently the plan is to improve the tax code so that doing business in the US is competitive with rest of the world so that employers do not leave, maybe even come back. Your suggestion is a unrealistic in improving the system and a giant back step in keeping employers here.

Sure... it's money though, no matter what you want to call it.

It isn't really true that there aren't third parties involved now. My understanding is that most if not all large employers use third party administrative services in order to avoid HIPAA issues (and for other reasons).

No it isn't. The current plan is to claim that everything will be perfect, then do nothing, then blame it on congress. Same as the healthcare plan, by some strange coincidence.

Incorrect. Most employers would be happy to be freed from the burden of providing healthcare to their employees. It's a giant pain in the ass for an employer.

Oh you got that part right. At least until they get a look at the tax bill that will replace the current system.

This is true too. But when they started doing this, it was the start of giant increases in healthcare costs and cost shifting. The big error here was taking the consumer (the employee) out of the system. The no long even know the costs or who will do it better or cheaper. A major intrusion by the government forced employers in this direction.
We need to back the Feds out of the system, not take a bigger bite.

All those rich white people with guaranteed lifetime health care cheering and applauding taking health insurance away from millions of people. I hope they all die of something very painful.

WTF does this even mean? Was there a point to be made here? The rich people, who you and I both pay for their health care with our taxes, just cut healthcare for poor people. The fact that people agree with this shit is ludicrous.

It's now at a point, if this comes thru, that it will be cheaper for people to pay the penalties for not having health care, than it will to actually *have* healthcare.
