They ask you if you want to register to vote. If you do, you register. You could have registered before going to the dnv. You can register without going to the dnv. Doing it when you renew your license updates the voter rolls and is a convenience to the voter.
Yes, but it suppresses the Republican vote because people with chauffeurs never go to the DMV themselves. barfo
Looks terrible. And it would take away one of my favorite things. Girls at the gym who tuck their phone down their tops.
There are plenty of other places to register. I registered outside a Target store. The point being you don't hand non-citizens ID cards and then let them use those cards to register to vote.
Yes, there are plenty of places in Oregon to register to vote, the DMV is one of them. So you would rather give someone your private information in the parking lot of a Target instead of inside the DMV. And non-citizens can't use an ID to register to vote in Oregon.
The last time I renewed my drivers license, was the first time I was ever required to show and ID like BC or Pass Port.
Yes, it was well publicized in Oregon that the DMV has increased the documents required to renew or be issued new ID or DL.
Went into effect in 2008. http://www.odotmovingahead.com/2008/08/oregonians-face-tougher-id-requirements-at-dmv/
Yes, very recent. Too many liberals in the way. ""The population explosion" was an openly discussed issue some 40 or more years ago. But in recent decades the whole idea of overpopulation and even the word itself have come into ill repute and are studiously avoided in public conversation...." http://www.oregonlive.com/opinion/index.ssf/2016/06/immigration_driving_population.html
You know how you stop illegals from driving, make it illegal to sell them a car. How many Mexican license plates do you see on cars here?
Nobody in their right mind would drive a car here from Mexico. They are worth far more there, than here. Preventing them from buying a car here is beating about the wrong bush and a silly burden on people selling cars. We have adequate laws, we have enforcement now, and Oregon should follow Federal law on immigration.
Sure they do, and good for them. It's not the same thing as handing someone an ID they can (potentially) use on the spot to register to vote (illegally). The DMV is for motor vehicle and drivers license registration, not to be a marketing arm for the Democrat Party.
Wait--it makes sense to discourage illegal immigration (something for which adequate laws already existed) by also making it illegal to employ illegal immigrants (thereby placing burden on private business to help with the enforcement and viability of the existing laws), but it doesn't make sense to discourage (uninsured) illegal immigrants driving (something for which adequate laws already exist) by making it illegal to sell a car to an illegal immigrant (without valid insurance) (thereby placing burden on private business to help with the enforcement and viability of the existing laws)? Your logic doesn't seem...logical.
I hate to generalize, but too many (usually) Hispanics buy a car but steer very clear of the DMV because of the ID requirement. They are either here illegally or they don't want (or can't afford) to buy insurance. A lot of time they don't even bother to register the cars. So they drive the car without license, registration or insurance until they are pulled over by the police (legitimately or otherwise). When the cops discover they are driving illegally, they basically impound the vehicle and let the drivers walk away. Disposal of the car becomes the responsibility of the taxpayer and the former owners go on to purchase other vehicles and the cycle continues. Or so several cops have told me........
The two illegal immigrants living in my in-laws' house (wonderful people, BTW) confirm that to be the case.
It seems we have laws on the books now. Why add more? Especially in a State that does not enforce what it on the books. If a person wants to sell a old car, uses ebay, craigslist or just puts a for sale sign in the car, how is a person to know the buyer is illegal? Is a person selling an item suppose to vet every potential buyer? By what document?? Is this only for cars? Or does the list get longer?
