umm, this is very interesting. If true then, no one in fire fighting is answerable directly to the people. We have a bureaucracy shielded in the cloud, making wise decisions and protecting us with benevolent efficiency?

Blanket reference. The state at that time was handing out licenses along with voter registrations like candy bars. Often referred to as Motor Voter.

Oregon was the first state that enacted Motor Voter.

    That was in 2015.

According to a study done by OPB this year Motor Voter overwhelmingly helped people to register in rural counties since it was they who have the most difficulties in traveling to traditional voter registration locations.

Rural Oregon counties tend to be republicans.

That's it, you nailed it. If the governor doesn't personally determine firefighting tactics, then there is no oversight at all.

Why didn't she get off her ass and ride her broom over the fire? She could have been there if she had wanted to.

I remember 2002 being offered to register and was astounded that in 2006 that they had progressed to assuming registration.

Wait, in 2002 they asked if you wanted to register to vote, then in 2006 they assumed you had already registered? And then in 2015 they started automatically enrolling people to vote at the DMV and that cost Dudley the election in 2010.

You know when people join this forum they are automatically enrolled to vote in the polls.

Come on, bud. I will elaborate. 02 was a casual, "Do you want to register" and by 06 they assumed I did want to, more of a change in mind set by workers to make sure that if you received a license, they were doing their best to get people registered.

I do see the positives that were intended, but also as has been discussed, it did allow those who were non citizens the ability to vote.

If everyone didn't get a chance to vote he would have won?

I was trying to make a joke about witches from Salem, and I learned that one way to tell whether someone is a witch is to make a cake using her urine, and have a dog eat it.

    So, Sly... hungry?

Kate is awful. Kitzy wasn't as bad as people say. He did some stupid shit and abused his power thinking with the wrong head, but he was good at trying to get both sides to work together.

I mean for fucks sake, the republicans ran Dennis Richardson, who is a fucking moron, against Kitzhaber, who was balls deep in investigations and he lost.

Dennis was a moron. He sent countless emails to state employees about how he was going to shrink state employment and lay off workers. He could have thought that, and wanted to follow through, but why would you tell a huge voting group you were going to let them go. Especially in Oregon. Dumbass.

Agree with you about both Dennis and Kitz. Curious why you say Kate is awful. I haven't really noticed her being governor, in either a positive or negative sense. I should pay more attention to state politics than I do, I guess. What's she done, or not done, that makes you rate her 'awful'?
