I personally dont think we should be doing that with CJ, but even still one is more than enough. Because then there will be spurts with Dame CJ and Turner all on the bench.... Wanna see how many turnovers we can get in the beginning of the 2nd and 4th quarters? to me this is a good way to find out.
Which part? The backcourt? Napier and CJ would definitely be based on the opposition, but if Morrow makes the team and plays...he and Napier would not be too small against other 2nd units. If you are talking about ET being too small at SF to go with CJ and Napier...is it really that much of a difference than having Harkless in there? ET and Harkless weigh the same at 220 (per blazers.com) and ET has a longer standing reach.
Yeah I meant Napier and CJ with Turner at SF. Turner is fine at SF but when you add two more undersized guys it makes it tough. But it really just depends on matchups.
You lost me. Which part should we not be doing with CJ? Keeping him at SG? And when would all three be on the bench? Dame plays the whole first and 3rd quarters..... CJ and ET start the 2nd and 4th (Or at least one of them does)
Uh-oh. Haha. Forgot your man Aminu Also forgot Zach What can I say I was preoccupied I say again our bench is going to be better than people think.
Harkless and Aminu for me too. Not the most appealing combo in the league. More like Blazer Blue Plate Special.
Ideally, you want to win Q1 by a lot. I say play the best 5. You don’t have to sub a bunch of guys all at once. Sub Mo for ET at 6:00, bring ET back for the last 3.
The rookies are not the solid choice, they need to prove themselves from the bench first. Turner is not needed as a creator alongside CJ and Lillard, he needs the ball in his hands with the second unit (which is horrible). We need two guys who will be able to balance CJ's and Dame's defense. Because Vonleh is hurt i'd say Harkless and Aminu are the only choice. When Vonleh comes back Aminu returns to the bench unless he's a good matchup against certain players\teams.
Power forward: Swanigan for: He's fresh as the driven snow and doesn't have the stink of failed expectations (yet). Swanigan against: Who does he guard? Small forward: Turner for: he can defend a little, handle the ball a little and create a little for others. Turner against: he can't shoot. What will really happen: Terry plays Aminu at the 4 and Harkless at the 3. Dark horse: Ed Davis or maybe Vonleh.
Harkless at SF. Vonleh was playing pretty good next to nurk towards the end of the season. If we truly have a NIP Meyers Leonard, he'd be a canidate too since he can hit the 3.
Seems like Swanigan love is out of porportion. I watched him in the summer league, and don't get what the fuss is about. He looked solid, like he may be a decent rotational player in the league, but people are acting like he set the world on fire. I've seen nba journeymen look much better in summer league.
There were literally three other rookies in history that put up his stat lines, and two of them are Blake Griffin and Kevin Love (third is speights, a good player in his own right.) But hey everyone is entitled to their opinion. We'll see what happens.
Here's the lowdown: If you have 2 great scorers on your team, you just need to surround them by... defenders, rebounders, and shooters. If you look at Defense x Rebounding x Shooting, I think Harkless is better than ET who is better than Aminu. Similarly, by this metric... Collins > Biggie ~= Davis > Vonleh > Leonard. But Collins isn't ready. Hopefully he'll be ready by year's end, but for now, it's Biggie.
Huh? 16 and 10, shooting under 44% from the field. Not that impressive for summer league. He wasn't even the leading rebounder in Vegas league. Compare him to NBA G Leaguer Matt Costello, who averaged 11 and 12 with 60% shooting.
Huh what you mean huh? What part was hard to understand for you? Four rookies averaged double doubles in the history of summer league. Swanigan was one. How is that not impressive?
I just gave you an example of a no-namer from this year that averaged a double double. It's not that big of a deal to do in summer league over the course of a few games. It's not like there's some magical thing about averaging 10 rebounds just because we happen to have a base 10 counting system.
