He's still a better commentator than he was a head coach!

I've noticed. A lot of the rookies are looking good for the future. It's the exact opposite of last year's rookie field.

It's amazing how much weaker 2016 class looks on paper compared to 2015 & 2017. We shall see about Simmons but even Ingram and Brown look like they could be decent players without really getting close to top class level.

I think Simmons is going to be special.

I don't think so at all. Can't shoot outside of layups and dunks, isn't a good defender.. Yeah he can pass but that's about it.

That'll happen easily. Not hard to replace a shrinking, timid, beta whose spaced out half the time, can't dribble, create his own shot and is lackadaisical on defense.

How? Towns, Turner, Porzingis and Booker have all proven to be potential franchise players and are the best players in their teams at a very young age. Russell has been underwhelming but will IMO still become very, very good. Okafor has arguably been poor as his game is not really suited to today's NBA but he still has some strengths that are hard to overlook.

Some fairly decent players like Cauley-Stein, Kaminsky or Winslow will also have fine NBA careers. There are some players I had much higher expectations for, like mentioned Okafor, or Mudiay and Hezonja but it always happens. Stanley Johnson is another one but he might still recover.

I hope we can flip some of our big men or small forwards into a solid backcourt player that we really badly need. Three untouchables from our dozen or so centers and power forwards are Nurkic, Collins and Swanigan. Everybody else could basically be used in a trade and I think some teams who are light in big men rotations would be willing to take Davis or Vonleh for small return. As for small forwards it will be easiest to flip Harkless but we need to keep him, he is good. Turner would be hard to trade but I also like him so that leaves Aminu as the odd man out. Aminu is good but we have players better than him in both positions he can play, and we have back ups there too.

A comboguard we could have a look at is Clarkson. With Lakers young roster he might be surplus to requirements and his contract is not that great meaning they might be willing to offer him to someone for small return or expiring contracts in order to get some room for George next season.

Yeah 2016 has been rather garbage so far. I like Jaylen Brown but he has some serious limitations, him and Tatum could be fun to watch in the future though. Jamal Murray and Marquese Chriss will be good IMO but there is a lot of very underwhelming players in top 10. I am not even sure Pöltl, Dunn or Bender will become any decent. Buddy Hield will be good but not great, at 24 he doesn't have much room for becoming great from his current point.

2 or 3 posters are the whole of "Rip City"?

Collectively this fan base has treated like 2 or 3 players "like shit" in the last 10 years. And Crabbe wasn't one of them.

How does that actually count against the cap? You cannot know at the start of season how much he is going to play.

Give it a week into the season. We're relying on a rookie to be one of the go to guys. That's not gonna end well, and i say that as a big Swanigan fan.

Everybody is gunshy about betting against the Spurs, but just look over that roster. Gasol is 37, Parker 35, Ginobili 40, Aldridge 32, Gay 31.

If that team were in, say, Atlanta instead of San Antonio, does anybody predict even 50 wins? Especially when they aren't even sure Kahwi is healthy enough to start opening night.

It's incredible that they quietly went for 61 wins last year. Shit, Portland has only had one 61+ win team in franchise history.

At some point they have to break down, right?

Hmm that's a tough call. He was a pretty bad coach, but was he one of the worst coaches ever?
Because for me he is one of the worst NBA announcers ever. I want to pull my hair out every time he utters a word. I don't think he is one of the dumbest announcers ever, (because he does know the game) but the voice and the delivery.........It is excruciating.

ESPN is in the entertainment business........are there really no other options?

Well, either Jackson is the worst coach ever or Kerr/Walton is the best coach ever. The difference was night and day.
