...upon reflecting a little more on Girardi, though I don't believe was the best thing for the Yanx going forward, I do however believe it was probably the best thing for Girardi.

    1. In retrospect, I think the guy is simply worn out (sure looked and acted like it recently) on having to deal with NY, the press, the fans, and Cashman. (they clearly did not see eye to eye on a few things)...funny how Joe gets the blame yet Cashman gets a pass.

    2. He does not have to take another job right away. He can now spend time with his family, recharge his batteries and if he decides to get back into it, he can make that decision if/when the time and offer is right for him. I know he's from the Chicago area and always wanted to manage the Cubs so maybe he'll get his chance or maybe with the White Sox, who knows.

    3. Still gotta believe that a year from now the Yanx and some of the fans will wish they still had Joe to kick around. As a player, Joe not only played with a passion but also with quiet and unassuming class and he coached the same way. And considering the shit he had to deal with and some of the rosters he was given, I think he did a very good job.

...enjoys your time off, Joe...you've earned it.

Yankee management wants a different puppet. But this move says a whole lot about
Yankee management...........they are guileless, pathetic and downright full of shit.
I’m just wondering how many backstabbers were planted near the team. Must be a
deplorable atmosphere for anyone to do the job!

I wish Girardi the best in his baseball endeavors. Yankee management really fucked up........
but that’s what power mongers tend to do.

We all had the same reaction in 95 when buck was shown the door unceremoniously and we got "clueless joe" which worked out ok. Lets see who is named the manager first. I think 10 years is a long time to manage in 1 place and this particular place has more pressure than others. Joe seemed to be worn out during season, looked very thin and broke down emotionally during at least 3 press conferences this post season that I can remember. I think Joe will wind up on his feet in a good job like washington.

Personally I think the decision was made last off season to run out his clock. 28 would have been the only chance to extend.

I’m a little surprised by all the Girardi love given the years of negative posts aimed at him ( here and many places) but than a surprise season will do that.

As for Buck, I recall major criticisms of his devotion to process and dogma and not ever letting kids be kids on an occasion or from time to time. The hardass routine wasn’t needed by the Core4.

As for next manager, maybe another former catcher, Jorge Posada. He could really help Sanchez with his plate defense, lol!

Whoever it is it seems will be devoted to the analytics and basically a managerial robot that gets along with the players.

Saw this news early in the AM had a lot of personal business to take care of prior to checking MLB TV. I do remember an ESPN article probably by Marchand that if the Yankees di not win this season that Girardi would be gone. At the time I thought that was a stupid article, no one knew for sure how this team would turn out. So it turns out after all that Cashman was the dirty Son of A Bitch sent to deliver the message. Like that old West Song, "the dirty little coward who shot Mr. Howard and laid poor Jessee in his grave. Well Cash old buddy right up your Hershey Highway. Hope to see you at a ST game in '18 so I can tell you face to face what I think. You did not give Girardi your best efforts but Girardi gave back his best. What goes around comes around.

Saw a list of perspective candidates that had A-holes name included. Sixty Two years of fandom would go up in smoke if they named that franchise filth manager. Ibanez, yep he'd probably be a good choice.

Just went back and checked out Ibanez hitting those two bombs in game 3 '12 ALDS, one as a pinch hitter for A-hole.
