It reads as if a smart, black modern day Archie Bunker wrote it. I feel bad for any kid that gets taught idiotic shit in this day and age.
I guess I should mention that I have no trouble with that being published. It is a legit opinion piece even if it is terribly sad to read.
I for one don't want the black part of my daughter to be friends with the white part of her! Dirty crackas.
I read that several times, trying to look at it from all points of view. All I come away with is that is a very stilted, hateful, divisive point of view. I would feel sorry for anyone who would take this as gospel.
Very interesting and provocative opinion piece. Great job publishing this NYT! As far as the content, I see a lot of truth in it even if it goes too far in my opinion.
It's sad when racists like this guy exploit their own children and make shit up just to further their own despicable causes. His kids probably deserve better.
The same people who clamor on about hate speech seem to have no problem providing a platform for it. I guess if they weren't manufacturing hate all the time there would be nothing to bitch about to get attention. This isn't intriguing or thought-provoking. It's uninformed, racist bullshit.
This article saddens and and angers me. It assumes the majority of white people are racists who look down on people of color. It assumes the relationship between white and black people can only be defined by the politics of race and economics. I could care less about the color of skin. I will teach my son about our history without whitewashing it. I will teach him about the inequalties in our country. I will teach him about right and wrong. I will teach him love. And, I will teach him that he can be friends with children of any and every color.
He doesn’t lump all whites together however he certainly doesn’t provide an adequate number of classifications. He seems to have 1) the overtly racist like those in Charlotte, 2) other whites who support Trump who he thinks at least turn a blind eye, 3) other whites who don’t actively stand for him but you could have a beer with or watch a game and 4) those who do go out and actively support civil rights issues like protesting Trumps Muslim ban who he says can be true friends. I wholeheartedly agree there are far more people on the side of Civil Rights than he gives credit but he does do some differentiation.
I love how people act like white people threw out the black president and replaced him with whitey. They completely ignore term limits, who won primaries, and that voting for president should have nothing to fucking do with what race he/she is. Obama didnt lose to whitey, he got his 8 year max term. Get the fuck over it.
That's really pathetic. I don't know what's worse, that a small portion of the population feels that way about the color of a psychopath's skin or that a large portion believes that all white people think like that.
I work in a unique environment where no body cares if your black or white. My first two acquaintances were retired black men from Dept. of Corrections and Rutgers maintenance staff. We didn't care about skin color. We cared about the fact we made retirement and were in a place were everyone enjoyed good jokes and comradery. We all ridicule car dealers for their absurdity and clueless walks in front of our cars in the auction lane. On the other days, you drive cars from one lot to another all conducted by a squad of 10 guys in a van. We don't work there for a handsome salary. We all work there for our friendships.
Not close to all white people, but I do think a majority of Trump supporters think that way. And that’s a lot of folks.
