I don't know about 1.8 seconds (holy cow!) but I test-drove the Model X with Ludicrous (I kid you not) acceleration package. It was faster to 60 than a Dodge Viper, in the shape of a 7-seat SUV. And that was 2.9sec (iirc). 1.8?
...ooooops...my bad, I misread...it's actually only a glacial 1.9 seconds. https://www.theverge.com/2017/11/17/16669024/tesla-roadster-2017-fastest-car-world
Yeppers, first thing I read today. Oddity's of Elon.... unveiled in the old Northrop original flying wing hangar, in Hawthorne. One of few blgs not bulldozed upon sale of this historic old aviation land a mile and 1/2 long, w/but 2 Hangar's left. Now the home of Space- X. The 2nd video (after the 1st) is worth the watch: "How a group of geeks and Dreamer's jump-started the self driving car", ie "The DARPA Grand Challenge" and "DARPA Urban Challenge". The 1st a Barstow to NV Mojave race, funded by the DOD/Darpa. DUC was at old (since closed, leased to private enterprises) George AFB, <40 miles S.E. of EAFB....out the backdoor of Mojave..... plenty of YouTube videos from 1st event: 2004, onwards each year to present...
God old "car fever" comes around when the new models arrive and the prices on the current models drops. I get cured when seeing Dr. Sticker Price & Nurse installment plan.
Elon's proven his naysayer's wrong time and time again.....But, such came with big prices, ie his own mental nervous breakdown, of which made him an even stronger innovator...! this video, imho, is a great piece on a major success story, who had to overcome doubt from every turn along the way; and proved big oil, our own Govt, and space advocates all wrong, on all counts....
"People Who Say It Cannot Be Done Should Not Interrupt Those Who Are Doing It" - (George Bernard Shaw). The guy doing what "can't be done", Elon Musk...
