Pat has a high basketball I.Q. and really all he is basketball player he doesn't specialized in anything. All he does he goes out there and plays.

If Pat could really turn into a decent contributor that Plumlee deal would look even better !

He's known as a vocal leader on defense..he's taken defense seriously and it shows..he protects the ball

Patty may be decent at defense guarding the SG (although Beal abused him). But guarding SF he is very overmatched. He puts in a lot of effort (which I love) but that doesn't mean he is skilled. Of course he could improve but Harkless (who I know is like a bad name to bring up anymore) is twice the defender as him even when not engaged. Problem is Harkless is moping and POR isn't getting him involved on the baseline like last year.

Patty is a good piece though. A lot of people wanted to cut him. Glad we didn't. He just has plenty of work to do (as do most of our players).

Beal is a really underrated player....he blocked Nurk's shot last night...not an easy assignment to guard at all.

in the sense that he doesn't get much ink or media buzz....he's a great player...sort of under the radar of Wall's brand

He reminds me of Shane’s Battier good at everything great at nothing... He’s a better athlete than Shane though.

His defense is pretty bad, he lacks strength and lateral quickness, but at least he’s smart. He makes a ton of smart plays that don’t show up on a box score and I haven’t really appreciated them until now.

One example was last night he got a pass in the corner and looked open but a defender was closing on him and kicked the ball to CJ who was even more open for the better shot. I guess that play does show up as an assist but it was just a smart play.

In college he played PF as a senior against much bigger guys so even though he’s overmatched, he still finds a way to affect shots. He did that with Beal a few times. He’d get beat but still found a way to get in the way just enough. And I trust him to make an open shot, so he fits with the starters. He’s the closest replacement we have for Crabbe right now so until we upgrade, or Aminu comes back, I’m ok with him playing heavy minutes.

Wow I just defended Connaughton fuck everything.

His draft class voted him as most athletic going into his rookie season.

I think he's good enough till we find someone better. But given our few player acquisition options that may not happen. He's proven he belongs. So "It's Pat!"

Since being drafted Patty never played like he belonged in the league.

His rise to an NBA player is very Crabbe-esque.
