So wait. I believe I told you about the black parent at the game I ref'd. Do you think it was acceptable he called me a white boy? That it wasn't meant to demean, insult, and belittle me? I certainly took it as him a parent, attempting he could do a better job than this 'white boy'. We're not going to see eye to eye on this so I don't know why I even asked the question.
Just because you hate the white men systemic power horseshit doesn't mean it isn't real. I said white men historically had all the power and still currently have MOST of the power. We have a decent amount of minorities in power but do you really believe that the percentage in power is at the same percentage of the population? How many Fortune 500 CEOs are people of color or women? How many head coaches in college football/basketball are African American? Hell, how many head coaches of female athletes in college or professional leagues are female?
Go to the search and look up white boy under my name. You will see my stance on that term has been consistent. I have arguments with my black friends about this shit. How the fuck are you gonna use that term when you hate being called boy??
I do however call actual white boys, white boys. But I'll never call a man a boy. Why emulate something you disdain?
Nah. It was an accounting system about who got the most power. The slaves had zero power and would have had zero power even if they'd been counted the same as citizens. It wasn't like Alabama or Georgia getting more representation would have been good for slaves. Just the opposite is true. I didn't say it wasn't an f'd up system from the start.
I'm sorry for assuming we wouldn't see eye to eye. However I can't resist this next part. You know the sure fire way to know someone doesn't know any black people? They say they have black friends.
Does it really matter if head coaches are female or not? What kind of fantasy world do you wanna live in? I don’t get it. What will make people like you and dviss happy? You want all blacks in all power positions. Women and blacks probably preferably black females in this far left utopia? Sure why not. What changes then? Give me a break
And that's my whole point. Its all about context. There is no black and white. It depends one the user of words and the recipients and that was my point. What a word means to one person doesn't mean it means the same thing to the next person, so there IS no black and white its all subjective. Regarding the boy thing, I brought that up, because where is the line drawn? When do we pull up our big boy pants and let the superficial shit die away and focus on the legit concerns of this world? (Not saying racism isn't a legit concern). Name calling only hurts if you let it. I'm sure we have all heard this.... Stick and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me... We are becoming pussified because instead of dismissing the superficial and focusing on the important issues, we are trying to utopalize the country and that will not work. In order to get past this we ALL must get past it. White people need to understand what words can be insulting and Others need to get over the words and dismiss them.
What’s also happened is we have really diluted what really is a racist or a nazi, a fascist. Most of the time these days when people use these words to accuse someone of, it’s just not correct. People also like to throw out all context just to become outraged. Context and intent. It’s really a growing problem but people would still rather call somebody a racist, fascist, nazi, sexist without even thinking about it. It’s fucked
Of course it matters if certain employees are kept out of management positions because of their race or gender. I want to live in a real world where we all have opportunities based on merit despite who our parents are or what body parts we have. I don't want a job that I'm not qualified to do because I'm a woman but I do want my accomplishments and education to mean as much as a male counterpart's when I am applying for a job I am qualified to do.
There should be terminology for shades of meaning, like, "You just said something racist-3!" "I did not! It was only racist-2." "Bullshit! That was at least racist-2.5!" "Calm down. In fact it was no more than racist-1.9A."
My bad, I must have misunderstood... I thought you were saying you were the ref at a game and an African American parent said he could ref better than you the "white boy". The post wasn't directed at me and I probably shouldn't have weighed in on it.
Have you not seen how these major tech companies operate these days. The dude who did the google memo even said in meetings they would talk about how diverse they want to make it despite of those people were even right for the job. So today more than ever people are hiring at these jobs based on being diverse and all that shit when really it should be who is acceptable for the job. I want people in those positions who are the best at their job regardless of color or gender, I don’t fucking care but when we start making things diverse just to be diverse, it’s a bit fake and honestly screws others out of positions who do the job better but companies have adopted the sjw nonsense utopia world that requires safe spaces and just making everything diverse for the sake of diversity.
Maybe if you went to Madagascar and called a black man a boy, it might not be insulting. For all I know, it's considered high praise there. However... the context for most of us here (and probably all of us in this thread) is the USA, where it is insulting. Sounds like you are saying that racism isn't a legit concern, despite your disclaimer. Otherwise what's the point of saying what you just said about superficial shit? What are the 'legit concerns of this world' that you'd like to focus on? barfo
How about the Libya slave trade for one. I would of rather seen a post about it instead of a supposed racist comment Donald Trump made
