My wife makes more than me and I’m completely okay with it. I’d make a kick ass stay at home dad and I’d love it. Unfortunately, we can’t afford it... yet.
Well in all honesty, it would annoy me if she made significantly more than I make.thats not to say I wouldn’t be proud of her and happy for what we could afford, but I would feel a little bit like I wasn’t pulling my weight. I’m guessing that I’d get over it pretty quickly but I love the feeling of providing.
I think it would be awesome. In fact I have been supporting my wife for the last 4 1/2 years while she goes to school. She is graduating this year and Im expecting a good ROI, hopefully she does make more than me when its all said and done.
OK, fess up, my informant admitted getting from Facebook and not direct hearing. So I can't verify the story. But the point holds. I have known women whose male partners told them they could only hold jobs if they made less than the men, like women need permission to work. Remember that Master Card commercial? A straight couple are walking in the woods, the woman says her job wants her to take some big career opportunity "in Chicago". The man uses his Master Card to buy an engagement ring, offers it to her saying "please stay". As she gets all weepy, presumably the point is she decided to give up her big career opportunity and get married instead. I can't help wondering how Master Card would present the reverse situation. The man uses Master Card to buy an engagement ring, offers it to the woman saying he has a great career opportunity in Chicago, "please come with me".
I think you may be searching for fuel to add to your hatred of conservative men. Maybe our egos aren't as large as you believe.
If they were smart, he'd use his mastercard to buy both a ring and a pair of plane tickets to Chicago, and he'd write a note saying something like "Wherever you're going is where I need to be".
Don't worry, they're winning. Watch for national run BMW commercials. They pretty much always feature professional looking handsome black guys. Makes me jealous of black guys now. Although the one with the guy washing his car with bottled water is for certified pre-owned. So, if I were the type to cry on Twitter I'd tweet something like "So a black guy can only afford the USED one.... that's racist"
Would prefer it actually. I would be able to use the line "Okay, moneybags" when someone barks at me to turn the heat on in the morning.
I would love it and be proud of her. Not the same, but similar - my sweet wife is 62 and is back in school, finally finishing up her degree. Bucket list thing. She got straight A's this semester. Love it - I would love it more if she was making six figures, but this ain't chopped liver, as we say. We think of our little family as a corporation - we all have different roles and parts to play to make it work, but when one part of the corp. succeeds, we all do.
This thread hasn't got enough options anyway. Is the wife really ugly? Then she HAS to make way more than me. It even depends on the person, HCP'S wife could run a personal deficit equivalent to our 20 trillion and he'd still be lucky.
My wifes been in school for the last 4 or so years and is currently expected to be in school for another 2. I'll be happy when she gets done if she makes more then me. Although back when our daughter was just born and she made more then me she was very resentful of that fact but i'll give her a pass on that because of the whole craziness of our daughter not sleeping her work fucking her and her being unbelievably stressed out and dealing with postpartum depression.
Your post seems defeatist in nature, as it assumes that no board member's wife makes more than him, that it's just a fantasy. Since I got my Real Estate license at the beginning of the bust in the spring of 2007, my wife out-earned me for several years straight. Without her income I could not have switched careers. I think it's rare nowadays for men to feel threatened by their wife earning more. My daughter-in-law already had a son when my son married her. Then when they had a daughter my son stayed home for several years raising the kids while his wife worked. Because you...I mean your "friend"... were eavesdropping at an airport, I'm thinking of the much more common scenario of a boss offering his female employee a big raise that is contingent on her moving to another city away from her husband, or contingent on her spending more time with her lecherous boss. Both are marriage killers and put the husband in a no-win situation. If he admits he is jealous, his wife will say he doesn't trust her or doesn't think she earned the offer. So he makes up the hurt pride story.
My wife always made more than me. As my ex-wife, she still does. I never pursued the almighty dollar, else I wouldn't live in Bellingham. Crandc, you might like this from the 1929 UK election. I just discovered it.
