I can’t wait till we rebuild I really have a good feeling the next era of the blazers are going to be better I love Cj as everybody knows but at this point I have no problem moving on from this whole team. I can’t wait to just have a chance to get a real superstar or generational talent. I know it’s not easy to get but this current team will never do shit might as well hope for a slim chance than no chance we have right now We still haven’t been right since LMA bailed on us. If anything we wasted so much time
The Blazers have the third youngest team in the league and people are already talking about the next era.
One of the things always holding me back from going full on coaching firing mode is the lack of viable replacements. Fizdale is available and his firing was universally derided outside of MEM. Hmm
Damian Lillard will be 28 by July. How many more prime years does he have left? Two, three, maybe four? So the team might be young overall, but not where it really matters. They've got a rapidly closing window of opportunity and right now they look like an overpaid treadmill team, without a lot of obvious reinforcements coming or flexibility to make moves because of some of their shitty contracts (Turner, MyLe, et al.)
Doesn’t the grade school you attend have some sort of policy about internet abuse? You really should make sure before they suspend or expell you for it.......
I've long been a proponent of "tanking" instead of the "rebuild on the fly" approach that Olshey took. Maybe not to the extremes of Philly, but definitely not throwing stupid money at the likes of Evan Turner or banking on free agency except to fill out the margins. And to me, there's no such thing as "honor" in being mediocre; there's competing for titles and positioning yourself to compete for titles, everything else is irrelevant. If you're a small market team like Portland, that can't attract top-tier talent via Free Agency or by agents/players forcing trades to your team, then it's pretty obvious you've only really got one sure-fire way to get one of those top 10 players you need to seriously challenge for a title.
I don't think Olshey's survival instincts would allow him to go that far. He doesn't want to torpedo his career by being attached to a franchise with a history of recent failure. Sam Hinkle is getting all the credit now for putting Philly in the right position to rebuild but he is still out of job. I think that's why Olshey is so afraid of negative press injuring his career. He knows you maybe get one chance at being a general manager and you have better have a good excuse if you don't succeed. Olshey's will be "oh the market didn't allow for success." And everyone will believe him because he built the Clippers and the press rehash the same old Portland narrative. He van nurf any future competitive ability the Blazers have and still have a get out of jail free card.
I suggested that on Twitter. Then @BrunoSOC outed me by quoting my tweet directly back to ET. Cold...
Exactly. "How to get championship rings: Step 1: Be on a team with Bill Russell or Prime Michael Jordan Step 2: Repeat as necessary"
There is (I would think) a tendency of athletes going deeper as They can make you brand new through the weekend now, so I would say Lill could double your "maybe four" with good medical care.
Maybe the definition of insanity is complaining about the defense when it went from near bottom to near top.
