Unload a couple of these defenseman, go with the kids. Bring up Graves. Gilmour is actually having a heck of a year for the pack. He can't be worse than some of the dopes you are using. I'd rather see Sproul up here at this point instead of Smith or Holden. The problem with thickhead AV is that his system makes it almost impossible for a defenseman to play well defensively. Essentially, you have to be like Skjei or McDonagh to play well in it. You have to be big, skate and pass exceptional well and have the speed to recover back to your zone. The concept of having one stay at home d-man on a pairing, the other do the rushing is lost on this asswipe. I still don't know why they haven't moved DeAngelo to the wing. Kid has amazing passing skills. Lord knows we need that and a right handed shot up front.

I wonder what it would take to get E.Kane, Hoffman or Neal? Probably would require a 1st as part of it which I don't think i would bother with. On D Gudbranson could be someone to look at.

This team is not close to winning a cup as currently assembled. Cannot trade first round picks away. We must accumulate them.

Andersson and Chytil actually fit thickhead AV's system perfect. They can play at a high tempo and rarely make defensive mistakes. Fontaine fits it as well. Problem is 3-4 of our current defeseman do not. What the imbecile doesn't see is when this team plays physical and blocks some shots which it almost never does, they basically never lose those games.

We don't need 4 or 5 dmen who play that style, we need 2 or 3. I think that was mentioned in another thread. That is where AV goes wrong. Play an up tempo style, but it is okay if each pair (or at least 2 of the 3 pairs) have a dman who can play physical and clear the front while being responsible defensively. If we had 2 dmen who fit that mold wow would this team look different. Think a Girardi type in his prime.

And say what you want about McDonagh's play this year, but Jesus the guy is playing with Holden as his partner game in and game out. Holden is a 3rd pair dman and McDonagh has to partner with him every game. Come on now. Makes what McDonagh is doing, still very solid, even that much better.

For the first time I actually believe if we miss or barely slip in and lose round 1 or 2, AV will be gone.

I also believe unless we are in a golden position as the trade DL approaches, unlikely, Gorton will move a couple of guys for some picks (Nash/Holden/maybe Grabner). This is the first time during this 6 or so year run that I actually believe management/Gorton will say yeah we need to continue to do a rebuild on the fly and build on what we started this past summer. I also 100% think Staal gets bought out this summer like it was a guarantee Girardi was getting bought out this past summer.

Has to happen. We are not close to winning a cup right now with our horrific in zone coverage, cannot win playoff games consistently with that type of defensive play. The time is now to complete the next phase. And I really think Gorton will unless we simply go nuts from now until the late Feb trade DL and we force his hand by showing we are a true cup contender.

Some where throwing around trade ideas with the Maple Leafs. Me, if they offered Nylander, Zaitsev and their first for McDonagh and Holden, I make this deal. I think Toronto does it also. I'm sure it would be contingent on an extension from McDonagh's end. Rangers are much better at drafting defenseman with high picks than forwards. They are especially clueless drafting right handed forwards. Mostly, because they choose never to do so. This trade makes the Leafs a legit cup contender. From the Rangers standpoint. It adds another right handed forward talent to the mix. It also opens up other possibilities like making Hayes or Miller expendable for high picks or another young, can't miss D talent.

Hahahaha nylander annnnnnd a first o and zaitsev? Why would the leafs offer all that when they can have mcd for free in a year. Sorry krieds but you will see teams aren’t in a hurry to offer up a large package for a soon to be ufa d man that is getting a little long in the tooth and will be expecting his huge payday. That isn’t smart cap thinking on the leafs part

Just more proof of how sad that fan base is that dipshit continues to come here. He's gotta be unemployed. Somebody give him a job.

Answer is in the form of a question...when was the last time Toronto won the cup? Alternate answer that would be acceptable..when was the last time Toronto made the finals?

Either question would tell you why toronto would do it.

I agree but they aren’t giving up one of their prized three young guns who is restricted for a ufa in a year. Wait another year keep nylander and go sign mcd Karlsson eckman Doughty.

Also verifies what I've said for years. Devils fans care more about the Rangers than their own team.
