OT ...the "Rooney Rule" ?

    ...first off, it's a silly fucking rule in the first place.

    ...but can someone please explain to me what the difference in what the Raiders are doing with hiring Gruden and what the Bengals did with Marvin Lewis by rehiring him?...both teams were without coaches since Lewis' contract expired after the season ended and the Raiders fired Del Rio.


    ...but did the Bengals interview other coaches before offering to bring Lewis back?...nope. But then again, Lewis is black so maybe there's a double standard for blacks to bitch about? Some people may say the circumstance were different but technically and legally, they were not.



    ...gotta love the hypocrisy.

    once again an example of gross injustice in all honesty; of "seperate rights vs equal rights' aka the best man for the job.... a gross misenterpretaion over decades and policies later. Policy's of every sort, from every entity, govt or big business....

    ...like I said, the rule is a joke to begin with and is nearly impossible to enforce...so why don't they simply do away with it.

    ...I mean, if you already know who you want for a job position, why must you go through the sham interviews?...it's just fucking dumb.

    exactly. Back in the early 90's then Gov. Pete Wilson rescinded the EEO/AAP, allowing the best person for the job, the most qualified, in lieu of meeting minority quotas. Of course this took effect for a short lived timeframe before the new law was a yr old. That law only applied to State Jobs, or private industry, not pertaining to Fed Contracts.

    He delivered his speech and signed the bill out back of a 1.25 Mil Sq Ft hangar, with podium, generals, high execs and politicos... We all cheered his move, even knowing such would never effect a Corp which has to meet Federal Guidelines in hiring, i.e. meet those fkng quotas....

    Interviews can and often do take up a helluva lot of valuable time. In Perry alone I hired 24 personell in 2 mos time. Had to interview peeps which HR is supposed to screen prior for qualifications; while most never met those, a total waste of my fkng time. Ntm- the hours of debating, then denying interviews of those which HR stated had to be interviewed, regardless of qualifications, due to their minorty statuses, say fkng what, if they're not qualified they can't do the job. I haven't seen on the job training since the 70's.

    I never allowed interviews to the unqualified, my standards not HR's. Gotta' admit I've never seen such morons in a working environment than Human Resources. Wasted time, cutting thru piles of applications, transfers, et al. Even then I spent a solid month plowing thru shit I never should have.... that's a great way to help a Mgr become more efficient ya' know, (sarcasm, tongue in cheek)...
    Ntm- impossible too ensure a work force that can't find a 50 gallon bucket of steam, or 100 feet of Flight Line.... !!!
