President Trump, once again, shows the armchair quarterbacks how THE World Leader get's things done. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...-korea-talks-south-koreas-president-says.html President Trump deserves “big credit” for kicking off the first talks between Pyongyang and Seoul in more than two years, South Korean President Moon Jae-in said Wednesday. North Korea agreed Tuesday to send a delegation to next month’s Winter Olympics, which are set to begin next month in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The rival nations’ talks are the first sign of a possible thaw in their relationship. The talks were held for the first time since 2015 and Moon credited Trump for sparking them, according to Reuters. “I think President Trump deserves big credit for bringing about the inter-Korean talks,” Moon said at a news conference. “It could be a resulting work of the U.S.-led sanctions and pressure.” Trump and North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Un have gone tit-for-tat with threats and insults over the last year as the rogue regime bolstered its nuclear strength. The U.S. had expressed concerns that North Korea’s willingness to talk with Seoul could drive a wedge in their relationship, but Moon downplayed that notion saying the main goal was still a denuclearized peninsula. “The denuclearization of the Korean peninsula the two Koreas agreed upon jointly [in the past] is our basic stance that will never be given up,” Moon said. North Korea said it would still not discuss its nuclear weapons program with South Korea because its arsenal was only aimed at the U.S. “North Korea’s weapons are only aimed at the United States, not our brethren, China or Russia,” said Ri Son Gwon, the head of North Korea’s five-member delegation at the talks with South Korea. Ri added discussing North Korea’s nuclear program will only damage ties with South Korea. A hat tip from South Korea to Trump could signal another foreign policy win for the administration that started the year with a ton of momentum after defeating the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. The Trump administration authorized a more intensive air strategy, which left the so-called “caliphate” decimated. The terror group lost 98 percent of its territory it once held, U.S. military officials said in December. U.S. officials said fewer than 1,000 ISIS fighters remain in Iraq and Syria, down from a peak of nearly 45,000 two years ago.
We all should check out the Bikini atoll bomb testing in the Marshall Islands. The island features "the Dome"- a concrete structure 18 inches thick devised to contain the nuke material the army personnel infilled without a base liner, the effects of global warming upon this dome, the 1400 US army personnel who contracted cancer from building it in 1970 and not eligible for health care coverage & the people who were evacuated from paradise whilst our knuckleheads detonated 23 hydrogen bombs on Runit island between 1946 and 1958. The last one was 100 times more powerful than Hiroshima. The absurd two billion, one hundred fifty million dollars doled out for that project population and cleanup. To top this off, Human population cannot inhabit this place for 24,000 years ( and there is no warning signage upon the dome). It's surprising the North Koreans never mentioned this when they sent non nuke missile test trials. But....all in all the two Koreas should have a pleasant time without the mention of the US government.
It's a pipe dream that North Korea will give up its nuclear weapons. The fake talks are being held to make China happy, and because South Korea wants a pleasant Olympics. They'll end soon after that. Clinton, Bush, and Obama had similar "successes." Nothing will change. North Korea is a permanent member of the nuclear club. If you think it's too small, it has 3 times the population of Israel.
Credit where credit is due. Talking is good, and if they attribute it to Trump, bravo. I will also admit his bluster stopped all talk about firing on Guam. But I still think he's loony tunes.
I agree with your first sentence. Ultimately I expect we will, through military force, be forced to wipe out NK's capability to threaten us.
You sure must be happy you don't live in Seoul, eh @MARIS61? Awfully careless with other people's lives.
How about the Koreans get big credit for meeting given excalated tensions....Trump just rattled a sabre....South Korea gets all the credit in my view..Russia also prompted Kim to compromise with the South.....Trump just tweeted a lot...sabre rattling has been used by China and Korea over Taiwan and S Korea for many, many decades.....Trump didn't invent this art of diplomacy....his Jerusalem fiasco is sort of the opposite of foreign diplomacy if you ask me. China points missles at Taiwan every presidential election....they lead the sabre rattling world in Asia
I'm ECSTATIC that I don't live there, or anywhere else that demeans their citizens by not allowing them to live free. The only conceivable reason to live in such a horrific place would be if you were unfortunate enough to be born there, which would make you personally responsible as a citizen for bringing about change to your home country. Other than being a very convenient place for us to base our military, SK is a drain on our economy and contributes nothing of importance to US. On top of paying less than a third of the cost for our military to protect them on the ground, and nothing for our sea and air protection, their top ten exports are all industries that they stole from the US by using their slave wage labor and unbalanced trade agreements, all but killing our manufacturing at home. Electrical machinery, equipment: US$134.3 billion (27.1% of total exports) Vehicles: $62.7 billion (12.6%) Machinery including computers: $58.3 billion (11.8%) Ships, boats: $33.2 billion (6.7%) Plastics, plastic articles: $27.7 billion (5.6%) Optical, technical, medical apparatus: $27.6 billion (5.6%) Mineral fuels including oil: $27.4 billion (5.5%) Iron, steel: $18.7 billion (3.8%) Organic chemicals: $17.9 billion (3.6%) Articles of iron or steel: $11.1 billion (2.2%)
So then we Americans stole the industrial revolution tech from the British...weaving looms, steel mills, etc......had low wages..etc...sounds to me like you think foreign countries shouldn't make shit and market it because it's OUR market....well....South Koreans are just like you and me and I've been there a few times...never seen slavery or any such thing....lot of baseball though....I think you confuse South and North Korea....or you just have a thing against Asians. Do you think about their economy? Didn't think so....
