Ah! That's where my friend was a teacher. He was there last night too, although he spent the early morning in his van in the parking lot. Most of them went home this morning although some of eastern Ojai was still under manditory evacuation.

I have been litening to the new out of Ventura all day since I can't do a damn thing due to high winds. No real bad news reported all day. I think most of the fuel in gone in many areas now.

Thank you! She just checked in and the whole family is safe at the shelter... so far it looks like the fire has burned around the town but not through... 2 more days of those winds though. You stay safe too @MarAzul !

I listened to Jerry Brown speak about the wildfire in California today. He says, Get Use to it! They are here to stay with Climate change. We need to learn to manage the fire and Climate Change, was Brown's main message.

I think a tax proposal is coming! Do you think it will change the Climate Change or prevent fire? The strangest thing about these fires is, no Lightning. Just spontaneous combustion near a road when the wind comes up. But I hear little as to why.

I can think of some worse places to stay at than Cardiff by the sea.

It’s called arson, and is how the vast majority of structure fires and wildfires are started.

Some of the video I've seen from these mudslides are devastating. Really tough times for those in California.

It's called lightning.....which starts fires all through history even before people settle an area ..every season....other than that it's often cigarette butts...several years ago in Southern Oregon a fire fighter started one to get overtime pay...that's a crime against humanity but really, most fires are lightning started and California is dry....with really combustable undergrowth

    Bull!
The Bel Air fire was started by arson, the Thomas fire unknown. By unknown mean there was no lightning and no known down power lines.

Maris was responding to my post where I stated, there was no lightning.

    https://www.dailynews.com/2017/12/07/how-does-a-wildfire-start-with-people/

“Humans are the only sources of fires during Santa Ana winds,” said Keeley, a research ecologist with United States Geological Survey. “You don’t get lightning during Santa Ana wind conditions. Humans are responsible for all the fires, either directly or through the power lines.”

“A lot of arson-ignited fires occurs under Santa Ana wind conditions because I suppose the arsonist sees that as an opportunity to create a really big fire,” he said by phone Thursday afternoon."

fair enough but I didn't read those posts.....just added lightning is always a major fire starter....and I don't have any info about recent LA fires....heavy population areas...chances of arson are magnified for sure....I shouldn't skip to the end of threads .....

BULLSHIT! Fire naturally occurs in nature. Humans can not burn an environment or a planet. You tree hugging, people blaming liberals make me sick.

    Interesting.

You think the arsonist is a liberal?
I was thinking dumbass, Terrorist, maybe even plain old drunk.

Why would you tag him/her a liberal? Is it to drum up support for global warming like Jerry Brown is preaching?
Dang! I don't think he intended to get the State ravaged like this though!

The planet had fires long before humans ever existed. That means humans can't cause forest fires. Science.

uh, read about Santa Ana winds Sly. The do not make lightening. I was here when the began, no lightening. The Thomas Fire started near a Highway intersection, no power-lines down.

They caught the fucker that started the other big fire.

Man those old creosoted poles used for power lines along the road sure burn like hell though.
Saw several on fire, one, the bottom 2/3rd was burned off. The top was hanging by the wire, burning like hell.
