A Comal County judge said God told him to intervene in jury deliberations to sway jurors to return a not guilty verdict in the trial of a Buda woman accused of trafficking a teen girl for sex.

Judge Jack Robison apologized to jurors for the interruption, but defended his actions by telling them “when God tells me I gotta do something, I gotta do it,” according to the Herald-Zeitung in New Braunfels.

The jury went against the judge’s wishes, finding Gloria Romero-Perez guilty of continuous trafficking of a person and later sentenced her to 25 years in prison.

Mistrial? That Judge will soon...or should soon be removed from the bench

I'm sure she's probably guilty but she deserves a new trial. You can't say with a straight face that a loony tunes judge couldn't have stayed the jury against her.

Oh and he should be disbarred and not just removed from the bench. He just stated he won't follow the law if God tells him not to.

Yeah, I agree she is probably guilty as hell. She will no doubt get a new trial ending in the same results, wasting more tax payer money. but, oh well.

Yeah, not only did he say he wouldn't follow the law if God told him not to, but he openly tampered with the jury. He needs to be disbarred immediately.

But what if God actually did speak to him? You wouldn't ignore God if he gave you instructions, would you?

What if it was his dog that spoke to him and he's just dyslexic? If a talking dog told me someone was innocent I would believe them.

You don't need a talking dog. You can just sniff each others butts as per usual.

Are you saying he should be allowed to do what he did? Technically I suppose he should. No law can prohibit the free exercise of religion. This certainly could fall under that.

I certainly might. I don't believe in God and from what I've learned in church I don't much care for the guy. He has the power to do ANYTHING.

Well, end any form of suffering by any sentient being buddy.

Now, if he told me a good stock tip I might risk some money.

I'd be careful with that. His timescale is far longer than yours. If he says a stock is going up soon, be sure to ask exactly when. It might be 600 years from now.

All evil stems from sin. He did put an end to sin when he died on the cross. But most still reject him anyway.
