You don't want Gordon at SF, trust me. Why couldn't we improve the team with other assets without trading CJ? We're not creating extra assets with a one-on-one swap.

Chicago? CJ for something like Mirotic and Zach Lavine.

The Bulls have cap space, so we can send out plenty more than we take back. If they'd want almost any other player as part of the deal (other than Dame/Nurk), I'd strongly consider it.

We save $10M in cap space.

Not sure if Chicago is interested, though they are rumored to want to get rid of Mirotic.

I'd trade him only if we got someone like PG back. As mentioned before, even if he's not extended. I'd take the risk.

George this year, is probably the best perimeter defender in the league. And he can shoot, and he can create for himself. He's the perfect target save for his contract situation. But this is the kinda risk we need to be willing to take.

Speaking of @HCP, it's like The HCP and Cedric The Entertainer were separated at birth.

LaVine is injured more than Blake Griffin (and not even remotely as talented.) Let that sink in.

ORL tried playing Gordon at SF last year and he was horrible. They gave up, traded Ibaka and moved Gordon back to PF.

Isn't CJs contract still poison pill until this July?

I know that doesn't mean that he can't be moved but it does make it way harder.

Meaning other teams don't guard him when he shoots.
    I see you.

I don't believe so. PPP is usually in the year before the new contract takes effect.

No. The PPP expired last July. He signed his extension in July 2016. The PPP is only in effect for one year.

LaVine played 2 full seasons, got hurt, and is finally back.

I don't know what you mean by "injured more."

A healthy LaVine (I assume he is) would give us a 1" taller starting SG who can score (18.9 PPG last year, .387 3pt%), and we'd fill a 2nd position of need in the trade I suggested. The real knock on him is that he's only 22, maybe not seasoned enough for this roster.

The trade that would balance both teams out the most would be something like Cousins (or AD lol!) for CJ. We're guard heavy in terms of our stars and the Pelicans are front court heavy with their stars.
