SAS should have said..... "It's about time that somebody realized that Portland is on the brink of greatness, and do whatever they have to to get out of their contract and sign with Lillard, CJ, and the rest of the Blazers !!! "

That's true. Still doesn't mean he didn't pad his stats quite a bit. He can both be a tremendous talent and a stat-chaser. It's not either/or.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...... I don't give a shit what you are doing out there. If you end the game with a triple double, you are a stud. The whole damn league wishes they could put up numbers like him. Wish EVERY ONE of our players would "pad their stats".

Im sure his teammates would love if he didnt keep costing them games for his bonehead mental mistakes in the most crucial times.

Yeah, he's a very good player. I do care about value added, though, not just raw numbers. I saw a statistical analysis last season that suggested that despite his incredible rebounding numbers for a point guard, he actually wasn't improving their rebounding numbers when he was on the court, he was largely just taking rebounds that teammates would normally get. That doesn't make him a bad person or a worse player, it just goes to show that some types of stat accumulation doesn't add a ton of value to the team's chances of winning games.

Well, if our bigs would just get out of the way, I’m sure Dame could get more rebounds.

Decided what exactly? ... I don’t understand. If you think hype doesn’t affect decision making I’d say that’s naive but since this was about a totally theoretical scenario I really am confused what you are even talking about

I'd rather they win. Westbrook kills his team when it maters most. They constantly blow 4th quarter leads and lose close games because he freezes out his teammates, forces up bad shots and commits a ton of unforced turnovers.

Notice he also leaves his man unguarded so he can hunt rebounds. He was dead last among all guards in contested 3-pointers last season in spite of playing heavy minutes, and it wasn't even close.

Winning cures all. When the Blazers are legit contenders, everyone will know Dame's name.

Fwiw -- San Antonio is the 31st ranked market in the country -- Portland at 22 but closing in on 21.

They have been so saturated with how the league is now and style of play. Westbrook whether you believe it or not is a stat padder. Shit I have seen dame get up there on boards a lot of nights, it’s just not that special anymore.

When people's hatred for a player clouds their common sense its ridiculous. If it's so easy, why is 0ther 99% of the league NOT getting them? Last season Westbrook had only 6 fewer triple doubles than Kobe and Michael Jordan had in their ENTIRE careers. Just think about that. How you can brush that off as "stat padding" is foolish! If it was so easy, they'd be happening all the damn time, plain and simple.

Conventional wisdom is that triple doubles are more commonplace now and thus less meaningful, but if you take out Westbrook and Harden's wrecking ball assault on the record books the past two years, they're actually pretty steady across the league.
