TRENTON, N.J. -- The New York Yankees' minor league baseball team in New Jersey is adding a secondary name in honor of the state's favorite processed meat.

The Trenton Thunder will rebrand the AA affiliate as the Trenton Pork Roll on Friday nights, beginning May 18.

Players will wear special uniforms featuring the pork-based product, which is known as Taylor ham.

Concessions will sell pork roll sandwiches, and pork roll-themed merchandise will be for sale.

Thunder general manager Jeff Hurley says rebranding as the Trenton Pork Roll on Friday nights is the "perfect way to celebrate a Garden State favorite."

I had been to many games. It is a great stadium and prices are reasonable. Pork roll and Cheese on a hard roll.....It's a Jersey Thing. They should also feature Loefflers White Summer Sausage. When properly grilled with the sausage pre split and charbroiled on the perimeter, you produce an additive product. You would certainly throw your stinkin humus away.

I'd kill for pork roll and cheese on a hard roll more than Ron would kill for Cheetos.

    It's that fucking good!

aaah Taylor Ham, Kim used to get it shipped her family from Maine; as well our Son in Tote's hometown (Howell, NJ), on occassion ships Taylor Ham....

So whose the mascot Oscar Mayer Wiener or Taylor??.... either way a swinging dk!!! Kind'a crazy to wear a Uni with a Pork Roll, Boar on steroids on a Jersey...or Hat....Sounds like something Jonah Falcon would do...

I've never been so fortunate to have: Loefflers White Summer Sausage.

...ahhh, OK...nevermind, I did the google thing. Didn't realize that a pork roll is a meat product instead of the name of a rolled up sandwich...as near as I can tell a pork roll is kinka like a cross between spam and bacon?...does that sound about right?

imo, kinda sorta tastes a bit like Spam, but imo better, but then I got burned out on Spam as a kid....Perhaps not as much fat content, tho' I'd have to double check that...
