Sure, but I was responding to his comment that he wouldn’t give up a first for any of those players. Or at least that’s what I took away from it. As for Oubre being untouchable? I think there are very few players you can label as untouchable and a bench player isn’t one imo.
Well, he said he wouldn't give up the first in relation to the reasonableness of deals; if he believes an Oubre deal is unreasonable regardless of pick inclusion, then it stands to reason that a hypothetical Oubre deal was excluded from the statement regarding willingness to give up a pick. It's roundabout, but the logic is there. I wouldn't think so either, but that was the way I was interpreting tlong's comment. Speaking solely for myself, I'd gladly give up a pick and other assets for Oubre.
We have nothing to offer Washington for Oubre that I would consider reasonable. That is what I was referring to.
Supposedly, Oubre would be on the block for someone willing to take back Mahinmi. Would Oubre be worth further hampering our payroll?
You would have to ask Paul Allen that question. I wouldn't mind that trade, but I don't think it has a snowball's chance in hell of happening.
Trade exceptions don't work on the trade machine. Itd work. If Memphis had to take on Harkless (who would probably start for them) in order to get Hood, they would.
I don't think bumping Rozier and Morris out of the lineup to rent Evans is in their plans. Doesn't seem worth it.
Not sure what red font means but he’s not. Untouchable means you wouldn’t even entertain offers. Someone like Lillard for example. I don’t think Olshey would hesitate to offer Collins in the very unlikely scenario a Kawhi became available. I know that won’t happen, but the theory that we would include Collins in such a deal, takes him out of the untouchable category.
@PtldPlatypus invented the red font. It's to play devil's advocate. Also, I believe NO and PA would certainly entertain offers for Dame for someone like the Greek Freak. So I don't think he fits your definition of "untouchable".
Regardless of how well we're playing, we have several guys that will be free agents this summer and I don't see the point in keeping them. We made the smart play last year by dealing Plumlee for Nurk and a pick. We're facing a similar issue with Davis, Vonleh, Bazz, and Connaughton. The names that are being thrown around right now are Mirotic, Jordan, Tyreke Evans, Rodney Hood, Kemba Walker. If Mirotic can be had for something along the lines of Asik and a pick, I'd like to see if we can pry him away with Harkless and a pick. Then go for our blockbuster. http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y8scavm8 Middleton/Parker/Henson to Portland. Jordan/Williams/Davis to Milwaukee. CJ to LAC Then in a separate trade send Vonleh/Aminu to Memphis for Evans/Wright. Dame/Bazz Evans/Connaughton Middleton/Turner Mirotic/Parker/Henson Nurk/Wright/Collins
Would it make you feel better if I told you that the originator of devil's advocate font did the same thing...?
