So does Ed Davis get traded for a couple second round picks today or tomorrow? The anticipation is killing me!

If ever a team needed a new coach and GM it's the Clippers

    Hello darkness, my old friend
The return was fine. Griffin didn't have a ton of value because of his massive contract, age and struggles with health. He's tremendous on the court, but he's being paid like a franchise superstar and he's often not on the court enough to provide that kind of value. LA being able to move that contract, get back value and no underwater contracts in return is a solid move. It's not an amazing move, and I haven't seen it talked about as such, but it's a well-executed "franchise reset" step.

    OKC - Layman + Turner
    Portland - Collison + Robertson + Patterson

imo if OKC is going all on trying to keep Melo + PG13 they should do this.
Solid vet for only 3.5m increase in payroll.
But they won't because their ownership is cheap af.

Here's my 3 team idea with the theory that RFAs this upcoming summer will be cheaper than expected due to the $ crunch.

POR in: Kelly Oubre, Julius Randle, Jason Smith
POR out: Aminu, Vonleh, Napier, Layman, 2018 lottery protected first round pick

LAL in: POR 1st round pick, Napier, Layman, Jodie Meeks
LAL out: Randle, 2nd round pick

WAS in: Aminu, Vonleh, LAL 2nd round pick
    WAS out: Oubre, Meeks, Smith

WAS would be getting robbed in that deal.

Really? Meeks is a net negative. Smith has two years left on his deal at 5.3 mil per. Oubre to Aminu is about a lateral move (for now), and they get a flier on Vonleh for 25 games with a relatively early second round pick.

    Thought it was fair.

Though I want Oubre/Randle as our future forwards, I'm not touching any of those albatross contracts (Deng/Mahinmi) unless we send out our shit contracts too.

It's actually more than just the "under the tax". Once we use the non-tax MLE (around 8.7M) then we are hard capped at the apron, which is about 6M (exact number after the moratorium, but 6M*revenue % raise--call it 6.2M). Which means that we can't even offer someone the non-tax MLE unless we're 2.6M or so under the tax, not just "under the tax" by a buck or two (as if, say, we traded Noah for nothing).

How do teams with professional analysts not see this kind of financial crunch coming?
