Um, we all talked about that over the last few months or so, it's not alchemy. Let's all, for a second, acknowledge that that mess was of his making?

I've met him once. Would love to meet you some day. Compare and contrast.

Good thing. What if they didn't develop him? We'd have had to PAY someone to take him!

Regardless, I think that when people, rightly or wrongly, see that the super-over-the-cap-by-infinity Cleveland Cavaliers upgrade heavily, they ask why we can't...?

I just quoted one reason why they didn't. Another would be what Olshey said, there weren't opportunities available.

They’re a contender. We’re not, and there was no move to make us one today.

Here’s a question I have for those that are pissed; which player that was moved should Neil have gotten?

    1) he shouldn't have had to give up an asset for nothing for the 2nd time this year. Which one of GSW, CLE, BOS, HOU, SAS, TOR, MIN had to do that?
    2) his salary management has set it up that we have "tiers" of contracts, not a spread that allows us to be buyers every year.
    3) fool's errand. of course we don't know what Neil said no to, or who said no to him. Were you expecting that we would?

Can you answer this one, though? Is the team better or worse today than yesterday? And is that what you want for your team?

    that's actually a bit worse.

We don't want Frye? I mean, I guess one of the best-shooting big men ever to play the 4/stretch 5 off the bench for us for 7M wouldn't have been good.
I guess you can say you don't want Clarkson. I mean, he's a better Patty Ice, but he makes more. When you're worried about profit I can see that not being good.
I guess we don't need Isaiah with Dame and Cj, so you win that one, Neil.
Rodney Hood and Jae Crowder are about the fucking definition of what we need to round out this team.

Maybe Neil didn't really want players like Hood and Crowder because he seems to like players like Ezeli, Turner, Crabbe, Harkless, Meyers....you get the idea.

So, are you going to answer the question or nah?

None of the expected expirings (Tyreke, Bradley, Belinelli, Hezonja, etc) were moved. So what should Neil have done? Overreact and offer up a first? And that would’ve helped how? None of those guys would’ve put us over the top.

We can go in circles about how he fucked up in 2016, but he’s recovered pretty well, and I’d rather it cost guys like Vonleh and Crabbe than a first round pick.

Me too, but you don't get to say "good deadline, Neil, you didn't double down on sunk costs. (Oh wait, you did, by tossing an RFA by the wayside)"

Did I say that? I said it wasn’t as bad as some are making it seem.

It wasn't this year Brian but Cleveland has done that plenty over the last few years. Houston has also done this. Toronto paid Brooklyn a 1st this last summer to take Carroll. Minnesota is still super young, just wait until all their guys become free agents.

I guess I was just reacting to you trying to talk down those that aren't happy with today (and though this was really the most logical move out there, I'm still one of them)...
And that's what I was answering above. Frye, Clarkson, Hood and Crowder all could've helped us. Now, were they available for what we'd be willing to give? That's what I was saying in my #3 above...I don't have any idea what he was privy to, and you know that. But there's more to not liking what he's done than "which player should he have got?"

Crowder has been horrible this year (not to mention I lost all respect for him when he stepped over his teammate and stared him down instead of helping him up) and Hood is yet another RFA who we'd have to pay this summer. He also plays no defense, has a really high usage rate, and does nothing other than score.

RFA meaning "we don't have to pay him if we don't want to" and "because of the depressed salary cap situation this summer can probably get him long-term signed on the cheap?"
