Adding a dead eye corner 3 shooter would open up so much for this team-- perhaps even push us above Minny. When does the # for luxury tax get calculated?
According to Spotrac, the Blazers have a grand total of $585K room under the LT threshold. My bet is they may sign Baldwin to a contract so he’s available for the playoffs. If they ever use the TPEs, it won’t be until next summer.
Right when the season ends I believe. I think if we wanted to add a shooter, we'd have to find one in the g league with no NBA experience. Even then, I'm not sure we can afford it, assuming Baldwin will count for 900k.
Hmm if that's the actual number, I don't believe they can even afford Baldwin? That seems wrong somehow.
This is a sick new tool btw. http://www.shamsports.com/capulator Can play around with adding/removing players and see how the numbers get affected.
Two-way contracts don’t count. The player can’t play in the playoffs though unless the contract is converted to a regular contract.
That would be nice. The Blazers could sign him, but they just traded Vonleh to get under the cap so its not likely.
Wish the interface was better, but there isn't a better calculator out there. This dude thought of everything
Salaries are pro-rated for the entire season. Blazers have played 55 games, so there's 27 left (or 33%). Bladwin's minimum salary would count for approximately $400k (1/3 of the $1.3M minimum salary for 1 year of service). As a veteran, Belinelli charge would be calculated based off a 2-year minimum contract (the NBA pays the rest). He would count for approximately $500k (1/3 fo the $1.5M min salary for 2 years of service). We could afford one, but not both.
We can sign Papagiannis with the minimum... a couple years from being lotto pick... Blazers should really look at signing him
Looks like the deadline to sign a guy to a two way deal was January 15, so that’s not an option either.
