Harkless was never better than Hood... come on... a better defender but Harkless can't give you 30 any given night and at least 15 consistently...

We are paying the tax next year. No reason we don't keep Napier in that case.

He won't get a huge deal anyway. Perhaps around $6M a year, we might offset that if we find a buyer for any of our bad deals, however if we keep Nurkic we will be paying the tax most likely anyway.

It better be for less than 4 million a year then but knowing our shit GM he's gonna get the same deal or close to that Lou Williams got.

Napier NEEDED to be traded, we needed to sell high on a guy like him to a team that needed a PG.

We don't know what teams were offering for Napier but lets not pretend it was some great haul. No team got a 1st round pick in return for a guy going to RFA. Should we have dealt him for a 2nd? Not imo.

I would take a 2nd+a stash player for Napier, it's better than paying him to what may be yet another hard to move contract, I don't get the obsession around here of keeping and paying guys that are the definition of average, we already are a treadmill team with little to no flexibility, why make it worse?

Not going to worry about paying the tax next year if we can sign Nurk, Davis and Pat. If the goal really is a five year plan, the lineup should be jellying with Nurk, Collins and whatever rookies we get.... perfectly. We should be able to jettison at least one contract a year like we did Vonleh.

You make it sound like we are going to pay him even Harkless money or more. You can pay the guy more than 4 MIL and still not have it be a bad contract. A 6 MIL contract is still VERY tradeable down the line compared to his skill set.

Napier is a very good player. I don't see him as average. I not seeing how keeping him hurts our flexability. He is instantly moveable down the line for a team that wants him. In fact I think he is much more moveable in a year and a half then he was now. A team now is probably only getting him as a rental.

Take out Orlando years and Harkless is better on everything but pts and 3p% then hood especially when you look at advanced stats.

Sign a vet min guy, idc. Backup PG isn't something that is a huge deal when you have Damian Lillard. Just anyone who is serviceable and cheap.

What our team desperately needed was defenders....we are so much better defensively than we have been since Wes went down it's not even funny....for years people bitched about our defense and we addressed that...offense will come but defense takes energy that we didn't have when we thought we could just out shoot everyone..

Our defense has improved but that's because of having healthy Aminu+Davis, a big body like Nurk in the middle, and more effort from Dame. It's not like an inconsistent player like Harkless is the catalyst for our uptick in defense.

An at least slightly better than average SF imo. Harkless is that. Hood isn't built for it long term imo. I think he is going to be a SG.

Harkless is not a slightly better than average SF. If he were, he'd be starting every game now and not averaging 5.6 PPG.

Hood is the same size as T-Mac, Paul George and Andrew Wiggins I believe, that is a SF. He would be a good SF in Portland, especially when we have Dame, CJ, and Nurk all commanding defenses attention.

My guess is the most he could have gotten is a 2nd round pick. No way he would have gotten a 1st. We have his bird rights so anyone who really needs a PG....we could still get that 2nd round pick before the draft.
