I assume NO really knows the CBA. He's demonstrated it repeatedly over the past few seasons, if not longer. I don't think Baldwin's call up was any sort of coincidence. It might be an insurance policy if they don't sign someone else, though.
I think it was coincidence because I remember Baldwin talking about how Portland offered him “more days,” so I assume he was promised maximum time on the roster before he signed.
Means we can keep Baldwin the rest of the season without having to convert his two way contract to a regular one. Don’t remember where the screenshot is from, maybe Reddit.
If we convert Baldwin, he will count against the cap, which may keep us from signing a vet like Henderson.
Gerald Henderson? He had hip surgery and is said to be out for the year. He will be an unrestricted free agent in the off season.
The last two Blazers' GMs hired guys to do the CBA stuff for them. So no, it's not a basic prerequisite. It is what makes NO stand out as better than most, though.
I think he could be called up on Feb 22 or he can be called up on Feb 2. Feb 2 is more days, but still keeps us under the LT. I assume NO knows his stuff.
@Scalma Had a post where he listed several options and in it under Gerald Henderson it said he was cleared to play.
It’d be an upgrade, he can take Connaughtons role, and he already knows the system so there wouldn’t be much of an adjustment period. Plus he’s played with a lot of guys on the roster already.
Plus, we might be able to count on his concrete posterior to take out the opposition's floor leader in the playoffs. Worked once...
Director of Player Personnel, Joe Cronin is the team's current capologist. http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/i...ers_promote_salary_cap_expert_joe_cronin.html
GM's should ALWAYS have a "professional" on staff to know all the little details. Regardless, knowing 95% the CBA stuff is a GM prerequisite for me....
