It's not even a debate. These people are stating a fact. Bad/Evil people who want to hurt others will do so regardless of it being a gun, knife, bomb, whatever. If they want to do evil. They'll succeed. Then we have people on the otherside unwilling to admitt that guns aren't the only things that kill people. Then you have people who just want the killing to stop. They want everyone to stop arguging bullshit, stop the posturing... They just want the killing to fucking stop. But no, it won't due to the first two groups of people too busy focusing on fighting one another. Instead of focusing on what really matters. STOPPING PEOPLE FROM DYING.
Like the fact that you had to go outside the US to find people using melee weapons successfully in school stabbings? The fact that you felt the need to be just like CNN/FNN and leave out a certain fact in order to 'win'? Go ban yourself.
https://nypost.com/2017/10/24/stop-...ing-metal-detectors-in-all-city-high-schools/ Stop school killings – by putting metal detectors in all city high schools Three students, three families ripped apart. One student is dead, one critically wounded and the other awaits trial. Yet, at a recent community meeting with Mayor de Blasio, Chancellor Carmen Fariña and what was termed “parent leadership,” the horrific incident involving a fatal stabbing and a critical wounding inside a Bronx school of two students by another student, who claimed he’d been bullied by the two for a long time, never touched on a core question: How did a knife get into a classroom? The mayor and chancellor did not seem particularly interested in answering that, nor in supporting proven ways to improve school safety: adding metal detectors and removing barriers to intervention by school safety agents.
Having met you I could see what you are talking about but since we're making generalizations I would put you firmly in the stopping a knife attack rather than starting one group. As El Pres likes to point out most of these shooters are aspys, geeks, wimps, nerds, democrats. Your average high school shooter seems like too much of a bitch to try and knife someone and they are hardly as big and self assured as you are. So I would argue that the Nate's of this world are very unlikely to snap and start stabbing people. So even if you could kill your entire school with a toothpick I'm still going to put you on the good guy list. Now knowing the Nates in school are going to do the right thing in an attack and that you are a self admitted badass I think you could disarm an angry geek with a knife. Might get a little cut up but I believe in you. But a geek with a gun? That I'm not so sure about. I think a geek with a gun is going to take you out. But let's say we have an angry Nate with a knife that goes up against badass Nate without a knife. I still think Good Nate is going to at the very least slow down Angry Nate. Slow down enough to get others to help and at the very least to allow more whimpy'er kids to get out of harm's way. Angry aspy nerd with a gun will do more damage than angry aspy nerd with a knife.
If the facts were on your side, I'd say so. And I did talk about the incidence of knife attacks being much higher in other nations with stricter limits on personal liberty.
that's all you got? Calling me a sheep because I said you were living in your own little world thinking you are so much more athletic than the average oregonian? Sad. You are fake news.
Nice Spin. Bye now. You should make it so blocking site admins is a thing. But being that you have yet to fix my account since the 3 on 3 tourney... Seems like you're too busy spinning fakenews than actually running the official blazer forum. Good thing sly got those new members.
http://www.al.com/news/mobile/index.ssf/2018/02/gov_kay_ivey_sen_doug_jones_in.html Gov. Kay Ivey, Sen. Doug Jones: Install metal detectors at schools Installing metal detectors at the entrance of public schools could be one way to protect students and employees from mass shootings, two of the state's top politicians said Monday. In separate appearances in Mobile, Alabama Republican Gov. Kay Ivey and Democratic U.S. Senator Doug Jones both said that metal detectors should be a solution toward curbing school violence. "We need to go through metal detectors to go through airports," Ivey said during a campaign kickoff event outside GulfQuest Maritime Museum. "Maybe that ought to be a start." Said Jones, during a visit to Bishop State Community College: "We got used to going on airplanes by going through metal detectors. People complained about it. People complained about 911. People now appreciate it. You see fewer and fewer instances (of domestic airline terrorism). I think we'll have to do that with schools."
Like I said, the facts aren't on your side. Getting all in a huff won't change that. Ignoring me won't either.
Reason why I want to ignore you, is the following. No matter what anyone says to you. You always believe you're right. If someone catches you in something like I did yesterday. You straight ignore it and wait to come back in the discussion when you think you can 'catch the person who caught you'. Then you repeat, repeat, and repeat until the person stops replying. You're not looking to have a discussion, not looking to have a conversation. All you want to do is be the loudest in the room. People who want to be the loudest in the room like you. Are just not worth my time, and the sooner they pass(may they rest in peace) the sooner this world will be a better place.
Chicago has been the gun murder capital of the world a few times. http://www.newsobserver.com/opinion/op-ed/article200714414.html Contest school shootings with metal detectors, not bias During a fit of frustration with me, my ninth-grade algebra teacher let it slip that my name was on a list of students who could “commit a Columbine.” It was less than a week after what was then the deadliest school shooting in America. Since then, this country has endured Sandy Hook and dozens of other horrific shooting incidents, the most recent being this week at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Because I grew up and attended Chicago Public Schools, there was an expectation that a school shooting of this magnitude could occur at an inner-city high school. Yet it never happened at my high school and one reason is we had metal detectors.
I bet any of those kids could have gotten any illegal drug they wanted, and I also bet most of them could have gotten at least a couple illegal guns. If they couldn’t find a gun on the black market, and they couldn’t find one legally... Hopefully they give up and start burning frogs alive; so they don’t figure out how easy it is to blow stuff up and set homes on fire.
I think metal detectors are a good safeguard...I don't think anyone disagrees with this..or gated security at schools...my point is having guns IN the schools would be a big mistake...it's that simple...lot of high school kids know how to steal school property.
You need to look at who is actively trying to defeat the idea. https://www.theatlantic.com/education/archive/2016/09/when-school-feels-like-prison/499556/ https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entr...-troubled-schools_us_59d217d9e4b0f58902e5cddf
