If he'd made all his FT's against PHX, I bet he'd have been a shoo-in.

    KD--27.8 ppg on 15.6 FGA/g. Insane.

If he can go 9/9 from the line against the Wiz on Wednesday, he'll have a shot at a 60/50/90 month. Doubly insane.

Was thinking the same thing when I saw that. That’s damn efficient!

Dame might be having the best month ever by a Blazer, but I don't know how you don't give the award to Davis. Those totals and percentages are ridiculous, and he's got a team winning that was supposed to drop like a rock with Cousins out.

Durant's efficiency at all levels is far beyond what Davis is putting up.

Harden is undefeated for the month, with a vastly superior +/-, and also a better ppp than Davis.

Any one of the 3 could win it and be deserving. Dame is 4th, in my mind.

February is not over yet. The Blazers have one more game, HOU and NOP have two each. With the all star break, February is a short month for NBA teams (even more so than for the rest of us). One great, or one bad game could make a significant difference.

The last time we played SAC, Dame scored 50 in 29 minutes. Although a repeat isn't likely, it's not out of the realm of possibility he could end his February with another monster game.

We'll likely finish February 6-4, NOP will probably be 7-3, or maybe 6-4. Not much difference there.

Right now, it's really hard to ignore HOU's 10-0 record, 12-game winning streak and overtaking GSW for the No. 1 seed in the West. Unless HOU lays a huge egg and loses their next two games, it's hard to see this award going to anyone but James Harden (as much as it pays me to type that).

As an aside, 27 western conference POTM awards have been given over the past 5 season. Precisely 3 have been won by anyone other than Westbrook (7.5), Durant (6), Curry (5.5), or Harden (5).

Durant has it too easy with all the talent around him, so I'm not as impressed by his percentages. Like Bosh said on yesterday's broadcast, his response when people asked him how/why he made so many shots: "I was wide open!"

Harden is a stats monster every month. I don't think he'll get the nod over massive outburts by the others.

Yes, and they're rewarded by the NBA for chasing stats. Flashy stats puts butts in seats, eyes on screens, and keeps you in the replay business instead of the lawn mowing business.

League-leading efficiency would be one thing, and reasonably dismissable. League-record-level efficiency is another thing completely. Durant's TS% during this month is 74.9%, which would absolutely destroy the league record for a season of 70.8%.

Sure, being on his super-team makes things easier for him, but NBA ball should never be that easy for anyone, regardless of their teammates. What he's done so far this month is other-worldly.

The five of them combined almost scored as much as Harden did that month!

Durant might be more efficient at scoring, but Davis is also putting up over 12 rebounds per game, 2.8 steals and 2 blocks. That's just a huge impact on both ends of the floor.

At the end of the day, does being the player/coach of the month really mean anything? This is probably the most useless awards in sports.
