https://www.blazersedge.com/platfor...ey-trail-blazers-courtside-absence-paul-allen Paul Allen has been without his home game companion for quite some time. While everything appears to be rosy on the court for the Trail Blazers as of late, it may not be that way in the front office — At least, in terms of seating assignments during home games. The Portland Tribune’s Kerry Eggers wrote a brief observation, detailing one possible reason behind the absence of president of basketball operations Neil Olshey next to team owner Paul Allen on the baseline at Moda Center: It’s been some time since president/basketball operations Neil Olshey has taken his customary seat alongside owner Paul Allen under the basket near the Blazers bench during games at Moda Center. The last time may have been Oct. 29, when the executive delivered a single-finger salute to someone associated with the Los Angeles Clippers — the intended recipient never has been officially revealed — from the seat after a 104-103 loss to the Clippers. Olshey was issued a warning from the league office after the incident, which was caught on video. Team officials deny Olshey is under any punishment. Maybe he just found a better seat. Many fans were pining for Olshey to be more involved before the trade deadline, but did not get their wish. Who knows – maybe this recent stretch of success could bring him out of hiding and back on to his baseline throne. Because . . . this totally isn’t about that “single-finger salute”, right?
Olshey has been very busy since the last several months.....trading Vonleh for nothing and signing Brandon Rush to a 10-day contract.
Hmm shouldn't Neil be actually scouting during during January and February and March? Why would we want him at home?
Absolutely....but not sitting together since late October? That is a long time and I don't remember that happening like that last year for such a long stretch.....even during scouting time.
I expect better than this from Eggers. This is a total Canzano I-have-no-idea-what's-on-so-I'm-making-something-up piece. BNM
He watches games from his own office inside the Moda. He can relax and watch replays etc. Who on earth would ever want to sit next to Paul Allen anyway.
