I thought he was at 5 a few days ago? Maybe a different MVP poll? Dont recall who posted it and from where.
No, this was the first time I've seen him on the NBA.com MVP ladder. ESPN didn't even have him listed when they did an analysis of the Top 12 about a week ago. And quick work, BNM. I just got the alert on my phone and was about to post it here. #quickdraw
And, look who is the highest ranked point guard on that list: 6. Damian Lillard, Portland Trail Blazers 7. Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors 8. Kyrie Irving, Boston Celtics 9. Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City Thunder Take that @HCP and @Mediocre Man. It's not just the Portland soccer moms that love and appreciate Damian Lillard! BNM
Some decent disparity among those who put these together.. Ranked #9 here... https://www.basketball-reference.com/friv/mvp.html
Not listed here... http://www.nbcsports.com/washington/wizards/2017-18-nba-mvp-race-whos-top-our-list#slide-1
Interesting. That one's not someone's opinion, like the one at NBA.COM and most others. That's a statistical model based on prior MVP voting. I wonder, in the end, which will be more accurate, the opinion based rankings or the computer model. BNM
That one only goes up to 7, and is very stale: "In four games so far in January, LeBron is averaging just 21.4 points per game, while the Cavs are just 2-2." That means it's two months old. Dame really went on a tear and the Blazers started winning in February. BNM
Remember HCP’s story about the abuse Westbrook gave him a few years back about his Blazer gear at a fast food joint in LA? His continued fanboy fascination with Westbrook after that seems a bit, well, odd?
So let's say we beat Houston twice to win the season series 2-1 and we play hot enough over the rest of the season to pull within say 5 games of the Rockets by season's end. Suddenly, the record between Houston and Portland isn't THAT much and Dame has had to do more..... Dame for MVP campaign picks up steam. I think we'd have to win like 52-54 wins which means at least 12-4 the rest of the way. Russ' team didn't win 50 last year and he won MVP. Things may get interesting here.....
I was in the crowd yelling "MVP" multiple times this season. If what you purpose happens, I wouldn't disagree....
