Oh. My. Fucking God. The pain. So I've been busy the past day with chores here and there. And I've kept my shoes on for about 24 straight hours. They aren't heavy shoes, so it wasn't that big of a deal. But this morning, my right big toe started hurting. And it slowly got worse. About 45 minutes ago, I finally took my shoes off, and now the pain is just absolutely throbbing. I haven't had a gout attack since I was in my early 20s. And they were NEVER this bad. Oh my God.....I want to tear the fucking thing off and throw it out the window. That might actually help. Anyone got any cures? I'm gonna slam 600 mg of IBProfin, and put an ice pack on it. Anything else I can do? Lay off the sugar and sodium, perhaps? I am so unhappy right now. If the Blazers fuck this up tonight, I'll kill @SlyPokerDog.
Dude!?! Why must you inform us of all of your nasty ailments? First hemorrhoids and now your gout. Thanks
Try small doses of multiple pain relievers instead of large doses of one pain reliever. 1 aspirin, 1 tylenol, 1 ibuprofen, 1 alvieve. It's been proven to work better than opiates and less chance of screwing up your liver and kidneys.
You don't want to put hemorrhoid cream on my gout? I was hoping it would be you to help me there Chris.
Diet...my friend who suffers from gout can't eat shellfish, beans or drink beer, certain grains and virtually no salt..check with your doctor...there are other things too but diet calms it down...some foods inflame it...ice is a quick fix
Well I am sure you have seen the no no list for high purines. The one that is not on the list that was killing me is Gluten. From wheat. Translate My wife's wonderful bread. The only bread I will eat now is Rye Bread. Mostly Jewish Rye Bread. Have not had gout now in 4 years. Get your blood tested for Uric acid which comes from purines in food. Alopruinol is the prescriptions to help get this under control. but don't eat the purine food is the real answer. I am not so sure that the Gluten is a cause of gout or causes inflammation on it's own. The other therory is yeast causes the uric acid rise. Well, what ever, no white bread. Not sure why Jewish Rye is ok, but there it is. Now, on the low purine list are admonishments not to eat dark bread! Bullshit! What ever, it was difficult to discover. Medical help is not so good in this area. Drink lots of liquid (not beer) Cheery juice, all kinds of juice. I ended up with drinking about 1 quart of Earl Grey tea a day just to keep the uric acid flushed out.
Fuck. I love my bread. I'm confident it will fade starting tomorrow. If I'm going to make a doctor's appointment tomorrow, then they likely can't see me until Monday at the earliest. Fucking Providence.
They can give you a prescription specifically for gout pain. But It doesn't really help much. Better off drinking a jug of cheery juice then several pots of tea and flush that shit out.
Haven't had a real gout flare since I stopped eating gluten. I drink way over a gallon of water a day and don't drink alcohol. Sucks but being able to walk is better. I had my Uric acid tested but it was fine. I hadn't eaten anything or drank anything bad for at least a week prior. Back to gluten, thank Monsanto for that.
Yeah well, it sure is difficult to learn this shit. Holy hell, it took me 15 years to shake it down. No damn help either from the medical people except for running blood tests and the like.
Bread and crackers are the only real things I miss the wheat versions of. There are some decent replacements but not quite as good. Gluten free pancakes are 300 times better than regular pancakes. Try kinnickinnick if you can find them. Mmmmmm
@Jade Falcon as several others suggested, it begins with changing your dietary intake. Make a list of what you eat and research it accordingly. Probably check for items causing gout to flare and match that with your recent food intake. Check your purines and other items as causes for your recent gout. @MarAzul , @riverman , and @bodyman5000 and 1 all made excellent suggestions!
