    Living in Parkrose, I and all my friends and family have frequented both my entire life (because Mall 205 is a joke!). CTC has generally been thought of as the safer of the two, and while I don't doubt that LC's location in inner NE (only 1/4 mile from MLK!!) contributes to that, the proximity of the MAX line (also relevant to CTC now, but only within the past decade or so) as well as Holladay Park--long thought of as a bastion of drug activity--are relevant factors as well.

    All that said, I've also never experienced any violence at nor personally feel any trepidation visiting either one.

    I can only speak from my perspective, and I've never thought of it that way. And remember, I grew up and live in one of the more racially-diverse areas of Portland (check the district demographics).

    You're welcome to choose whether to believe me or not.

    The only reason LC gets a bad rap is because of the violence and drug activity in Holladay Park (and even that is hardly a regular occurrence) - and when it does happen, it is always between non-innocent parties. Never in my life have I felt the least bit concerned with my safety in the Llyod District. Anyone with the idea that it's some crime-infested area has spent little to no time there. Bad stuff can happen anywhere (like this incident at Clackamas).
