Not even in the slightest. Two completely different players. Chambers was all offense, no defense. Collins has earned a spot in the rotation of a 50-win team as a 20-year old rookie based on his superior defensive fundamentals and instincts. This is kind of like saying a young Dennis Rodman reminds you of Bernard King. Of course, Zach is already better offensively than The Worm, but you get my drift. BNM
That would be sweet. Then we'd have a young Pau and a young Marc (Nurk). I'd definitely take 10 years of that please.
I think he reminds me of a poor man's Anthony Davis. He has the potential. But I'm wondering why so many people are only comparing him to white players.
25 replies and no one has mentioned Laimbeer. Collins isn't as dirty as Laimbeer, but he has that same take no prisoners attitude, which is uncommon in a 20-year old rookie. Like Laimbeer, he is a defense first player who sets good screens and can step out to the 3-point line and help spread the floor. Where I hope the comparison becomes the most valid is this: 2x NBA Champion. BNM
When asked in the draft process who he compares himself to/models himself after, the first name he mentioned was Duncan. Personally I’ll stick with AD.
The way Collins utlizes his footwork not only offensively but defensivly as well reminds me of Hakeem. I know that Collins is in no way Hakeem but we see a lot of big men who had great footwork offensively but when they were on D that footwork disappeared.
