I’m not saying people should turn down money. I’m saying players are responsible for their performance.
Not fair? What is this CYO? Yes. Yes, if you make $17m the expectations are higher than if you make $2m. That’s how the world works.
And I would put that expectation on Turner if he asked for that money. He didn't. He only accepted it, so the disappointment that followed the expectation doesn't fall on Turners shoulders, it falls on Olsheys. Does it mean we need to keep him? No, Not what i'm saying and I agree hi salary is our black hole and currently the biggest roadblock to improvement. but I don't blame Turner for that.
No, that wasn't what I was getting at. My point was, rather, that Nurk (and others) played better off of instincts than in Tater's system that results in 3-pointers from subpar shooters. It's like he saw how beautiful those Nurk passes to Harkless cuts were last season and said "Nah, an Evan Turner 3-point attempt is always a better option!" Totts puts no emphasis or value on movement in the direction of the basket.
Maybe a fewcweeks isnt long enough. A month or two? He was in the conversation for 50/40/90 i thought?
Last year yeah he was in the conversation for 50/40/90. This year I played fantasy basketball for the first time ever. I picked up CJ expecting him to be near that again. Unfortunately, he performed just like every other scoring guard. Honestly Lou Williams & Eric Gordon performed better for me than CJ. I do expect him to get back to the 50/40/90 club as a Blazer next year. As I believe he & Stotts will adjust to the defenses
Pre-injury Wes instead of CJ of last couple weeks, sure, but overall, CJ is the better player and gives us that second 20 ppg scorer that we needed once Aldridge left. Pre-injury Wes couldn't do that. Post-injury Wes might be fun to have coming off our bench but we already have a younger version in Baldwin so maybe not.
Wes pre-injury was like 15-16 ppg player. We wouldn't be better. I like CJ, he's class and fun guy, but I wouldn't mind if we trade him for something good. If we can't get enough, I'm fine with him.
Or maybe we do not have too much talent. And with Dame (and Mo) missing those two games..... we had even less. There is a fine line between good teams and average teams. We see it every year when one key player gets hurt. I am ok with getting rid of Stotts, but it won't make a difference if we don't have a fucking shooter at SF. AND a couple more coming off the bench.
It's not, but our defense is good. On ofense, we struggle, without CJ points through the season we would be even more fucked.
