Drop a game at home vs the Rockets or Warriors and you are in trouble. Drop one against the Pelicans and you can realize how much you messed up and how you need to take things going forward if you want to win. This loss could end up helping out in the long run if the team is able to play more composed going forward. There also seemed to be some legitimate playoff jitters from some of our guys. I predict things to run much smoother the rest of this series. Team will hit the media room and see what they shouldn’t have done, and also what they should have done. It’s a good thing NBA series’ are long, or the team would be in big trouble.
I like how you left out the D in the thread title, kind of like how the Blazers left out the D in the game.
Haha, it was an accident. Kind of like ETs passes to Nurk tonight? Realistically though we played some nice defense in stretches. Need to learn how to hold a lead and not have to rely on stops to come back.
This is a stupid thread... nothing good comes from losing game 1 at home and giving up home court advantage... especially for a team that is mentally fragile like the Blazers... terrible loss, they should be ashamed with how they played. What a let down to wait all season and start the playoffs like this... will be an uphill battle now
Is the best thing that could happen is the players realize having a nice guy coach isn't a great thing?
No that's wrong. He stated a good point. Yes, it's a frustrating loss, especially since many of us, me included, feel this team is made of the right stuff. But they have the players to right the ship, and now know, they don't have the ability to rest on their laurels. They have to focus, hunker down, and take it to the Pels. This team is talented enough to sweep the Pels in Nawlins. It was a wakeup call.
Nice. It will indeed be an uphill battle now. The Blazers could win this series and get to round two and some of the fragile will still be talking about losing the first game in round one.
The OP is way off base. This is easily the 1st best thing that could have happened. The Blazers nailed this. Dame going 6 for 23 was brilliant. Not playing team basketball was amazing. Winning in the playoffs is sooooo 1977. Epic job. The rest of you are all haters
I could spend 30 thousand dollars on Powerball tickets over the next six months and almost go broke. If I got lucky and won on my last ticket I'd talk about it.
Actually the defdense was pretty good as the Blazers held one of the highest scoring teams in the league under 100 points even though NO shot a respectable percentage. It was the offense that was anemic. Even a less than average offensive game would have pulled this one out but shooting around 38% isn't going to win many games.
I don't think so...most can't (without looking up) tell you how the series went with HOU except "0.9". We lost our first home game there, too. (Granted, we'd taken 2 in HOU, but still... )
im not here to make you guys feel better. as a matter of fact I've love nothing more than to crush your spirits however, I don't expect Dame/CJ to have games like this in the remainder of the series. there is real concern that the Blazers took the Pelican's best punch and still had a chance to win the game. not to mention we basically have a 7 man rotation in Rondo, Holiday, Moore, Mirotic, AD, Clark, and Miller. So there will be heavy minutes that yall will be a to take advantage of. Solo and Diallo are our other 2 playable guys, but Solo is still running last year's offense (he missed like 67 games this season) and is out of sorts on the floor, and Diallo is still very raw
Many posts go your route... What is so wrong with fonz pointing out the potential positives? THere is always a positive in something. The negatives in the loss need not be pointed out, as they are glaring. Good thread fonz!
Not grumpy at all. When a thread states losing home court advantage in the first round is the second best thing that could have happened, how should someone respond to that horseshit?
